UPDATE: As of 29June14, the stability of this game is actually rather poor, constantly crashing on my Samsung Tab 3 running Jellybean 4.2.2 in spite of having open memory resources enough to run very comfortably. I have adjusted all the options I could, turning off weather and time, and nothing seems to affect the screen stutter or outright crashing.

I do a daily Android App review, as well as personal purchases, and have played literally hundreds of games of every description and quality, and for right now, as much as I like LEAGUE OF HEROS, it is definitely on the low end of the scale for stability. If it gets updated to fix, I will faithfully update this note and rating.*

Oh ya, I am an OLD role playing game geek, dating from my first PC, the Vic 20 (lol), and 30+ years of RPG playing across all manner of platforms and countless variations has given me a standard to expect from a fun experience:

● Upgrading. It haz to haz a practical upgrading system, and LEAGUE haz it! Various equipment slots and skills (perks) along with optional potions. No, not an in depth inventory system, but since this is an action oriented hack-n-slash, the simple system of buying an upgrade and having it equipped right off the bat, or in the case of skill perks being immediately applied, fits right in. Another side feature I always liked about Upgrade Mechanics is having your avatar change to reflect new equipment, which LEAGUE also does.

● Side Quests (and classic Grinding opportunities). Lots of side quests/repeatable stages, including a daily set of challanges for moar stuffz!

4.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating July 9, 2014

Really fun rpg with lots of side quest options, and with lots of cool features like the real time weather. However, the baddies get progressively harder to kill with each level you advance, and unless you're willing to buy gems through IAP (which I was not), your armor and weapons will quickly become obsolete. I managed to get past the 4th boss, and then couldn't advance, as in each slide quest my character only took 1-3 hits before dying and was returned to the village.

4.0 out of 5 stars So fun, yet so unfulfilling September 3, 2014

As someone who actually has played through the game I can look back on the whole experience and evaluate. I had been looking for a game where I could grab a sword and just fight without using any magic, and this one fit the bill. I spent hours and hours on it at first before gradually slowing down, and near the end almost hating the time it took to finish.

As others have mentioned, the game almost forces you to spend money. You can earn your way to the top, but it will take an awful long time, so I did drop some money on it. I bought upgrades carefully, only getting the ones that contributed to the requirements for the next boss. The nasty twist was that after you fight a boss and start earning XP again, you gain levels really quickly and get halted until you fight the next boss. If your sword is underperforming at this point, prepare to die a lot as you hack and hack and hack away.

Thinking of dying, I must whine a little about the math that they use. The potions you can buy are, for the most part useless. You really only need them if it's a requirement for your quests. But get this: You can buy a potion to restore your health halfway for one gem, keeping you from dying in the arena. But if you actually die in the arena, you can pay one gem to instantly be restored to full health. Why would anyone buy said potion?

Anyhow, the end game is the real downer. At level 40 it suddenly switched from gaining levels quickly to gaining them really slowly, which annoyed me greatly with my wishing to complete everything. But when you do complete it, there's nothing. I got my rank to "hero" and there was no big congrats, and annoyingly no change in attitude from the captain, who still said "You ready to help?" everytime I got near.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for killing a few hours but that's it. August 26, 2014

It's a fun game, but very tedious after a while. You get enough stuff in-game money to start out with, but as you get up in levels, I can see not having enough without a real grind. This makes me stop playing a game though, as I've had enough fun and spending money later is goofy.

It's a typical hack n slash game with little variation. Some monsters do cool things, but the 20 or so levels I played, it's the same 10 monsters over and over. The bosses are fun, but too few to be of any excitement.

Controls are well done and I rarely had trouble with not hitting a button or doing the wrong thing. The interface is somewhat intuitive and easy to figure out. This could use more depth to it but it's fine.

The game really needs to add more. Potions are very one-sided, you have set armor that while it looks cool, you just get to buy the next level up and that's it. Sometimes, this is even bad because the previous level looked very cool and the next one is boring.

4.0 out of 5 stars Magnanimous August 5, 2014

I'll be honest, I don't know the definition of the word I titled this rating. Maybe I'm dumb, maybe I didn't pay attention in trigonometry. The point is, this game is freakin fun as check y'all. The only reason I gave a smaller rating than five stars is because you only get five energy. That's straight up bullhockey yo. Other than that, I have little to no other complaints. Increase the energy/turns we get!!
