1.0 out of 5 stars OK for play, July 30, 2011
This review is from: HWC Security Grade Nickel Plated Handcuffs Serial Numbered with 2 Keys Double Locking Nickel Finish (Misc.)
These handcuffs are fine if they are absolutely the only set you need to use and you REALLY need to save money... otherwise, spend a couple extra bucks and get some Peerless or S&W. First of all, as the previous reviewer noted, each cuff is manufactured the same, that means when they are on they don't face the same way so unlocking them is a pain when you are using them! Then secondly (most importantly - especially if you are in LE or have other sets of cuffs), these cuffs don't work with universal keys. The keys that ship with them are the only ones that will open them, although they look the same as universal keys.

If these two points aren't very important to you then go ahead and get them, otherwise spend your money a little more wisely and stick with a proven brand. On a positive note, they are lubricated very well and already broken in when you get them!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Serial Numbered and probably not NIJ approved., June 5, 2011

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: HWC Security Grade Nickel Plated Handcuffs Serial Numbered with 2 Keys Double Locking Nickel Finish (Misc.)
I ordered this because I wanted another pair of cheap cuffs. Well, these are cheap alright. They are not serial numbered as the description states so likely they are not NIJ approved. They are slightly better than some of the $9.99 price range "real" cuffs but not much. A good pair of cuffs has a "left" and a "right" cuff, that is the cuffs are mirror images or each other. On this pair, the cuffs are the same, both are either a "right" or a "left" depending on how you look at them.

This will work for my purpose (didn't really need NIJ approved) but if you are in law enforcement or security, go ahead and spend the extra $10 and get some Smith & Wesson, Peerless (my preferred brand), or another good name brand cuffs.
