5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what we needed it to be
We love the simplicity of this extremely well-made walker with its sleek, easy-on-the-eyes design. 3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I want to start off by saying that this was a major purchase for me. I do not make much money, but wanted to buy my son a good quality "walker" as opposed to something made of cheap plastic. I poured over a hundred reviews, at least, and decided on this. I love Haba toys and I thought, based on reviews, that this walker would be worth spending a portion of my rent money...

This review is from: Haba Walker Wagon (Toy)
We love the simplicity of this extremely well-made walker with its sleek, easy-on-the-eyes design. When we were looking for the right walker for our son, we did not need one that would teach him the alphabet in Spanish, set his around-the-house jaunts to a soundtrack of electronic music, or offer shape sorting and bead maze capabilities. When our son sees this walker, he gets excited because he knows exactly what it is for--providing a fun way to move and explore, while offering his little toy companions a ride, as well. The simple design of this walker also will make it conducive to pretend play as our son gets older. I can't say enough about the quality of this product. It is extremely safe and sturdy, and yet, our son has never had trouble pushing it over carpet. It is worth the price you will pay, and it will last for years.

**Update** My son will be 4 in less than 2 months, and he still plays with this. It is his grocery cart or push mower depending on the mood. And it's just as sturdy as the day we bought it.

5.0 out of 5 stars comparison of various walkers, January 17, 2011

My boy received 4 similar walkers as gifts (a fisher price multi-fangled piano/walker, melissa & doug alligator push toy (Melissa & Doug Deluxe Wooden Chomp and Clack Alligator Push Toy, and another plastic piece that I don't remember well because it hit the trash on day 2). The Haba walker is superior to all for the following reasons:

1. Straightforward toy - the kid will not be confused about its function by bells and whistles (the fisher price one is bound to lead to ADD with the 20+ buttons, non-stop noise, bells, music, and no OFF-button!!!)

2. HEAVY - this is extremely useful when the child feels like they can run but they are not steady on their feet yet (my kid never fell using this; the first time we took the fisher price walker out for a spin he fell twice in the span of 15 minutes). This walker is also more stable than the melissa & doug one. The downside is that the kid will not be able to steer this walker at the beginning, but they figure it out soon.

3. The Haba walker is QUIET (despite the lack of battery-operated buttons, the melissa and doug walker makes a ridiculous amount of noise).

4. The brakes are very useful - when the baby was too young to push this, I tightened the brakes to the point that the wheels would not turn at all - so he could use it as a sturdy piece to pull himself up. Once he became more steady on his feet, I loosened the brakes gradually.

5. Longer use time. Compared to the melissa & doug, the Haba walker can be used as a wagon to carry toys and give little friends rides long after baby learns to walk.

6. Best posture - I found my boy bending too much forward when pushing the other walkers compared to this.

Shell the extra cash and get your kid a few quality pieces instead of tons of plastic toys that will teach him nothing about how the real world works.

UPDATE
We got this walker when my son was 7 months old and had just started pulling up. Now, at 2 years old, he still takes this walker for a spin daily. In fact he has abused it somewhat (by standing on the seat and trying all sorts of acrobatics while doing so, and surprisingly he hasn't fallen). The toy looks the same as the day we got it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Walker Wagon on the Market! Well-Built and Made in Germany with the quality you'd expect., November 10, 2007
This review is from: Haba Walker Wagon (Toy)
Our 11 month old son loves this wagon and so do I. He has no problem at all pushing it on carpet and he's banged this wagon into my white wood moldings over a hundred times and it still hasn't left a mark and the wheels don't scratch or leave marks on wood floors either. I wonder if the last reviewer got a different wagon or maybe their child just isn't ready for it because I can't find anything wrong with mine. It's true that it's heavy but that's because it's solid wood and well-made and because of that it won't tip over on your child when they pull up on it. If you want a light weight cheaply made wagon that will tip over and hurt your child buy one made in China. You'll get your moneys worth with this wagon, you'll be able to pass this down to other children. Plus there are no small parts that could break off (the Radio Flyer wagon that's MADE IN CHINA has small plastic parts that many reviewers have said break off [Radio Flyer Classic Walker Wagon]) or lead paint (All lead paint recalls have been on China made products) on this wagon that could harm your child. Don't waste your money on plastic poisonious garbage buy this wagon and you won't regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy and Easy to Push, January 18, 2008

The Haba Walker Wagon is great for babies learning to walk and beyond. It's front heavy so it wont tip over when your child pulls up. It pushes along easily without getting ahead of the child. There seems to be the perfect amount of tension in the wheels. It's still my daughters favorite toy at 17 months. She pushes her dolls and stuffed animals around in the front and loads the back with mail! I highly recommend it!

I was reluctant to spend over $100 on a walker, but to be honest I have grown tired of spending good money on junky plastic toys. You will not be disappointed with this purchase. This is the kind of walker you can pass down to your grandkids. Haba toys are always so well made, and so incredibly durable. My baby took to it immediately and loves to walk with his new assistance. His older brother likes to play with it as well. It is an added bonus that it comes with a seat in the front. Kids can cart their toys or even each other around.

5.0 out of 5 stars The "brakes" are gray screws by the front wheels, January 12, 2011
This review is from: Haba Walker Wagon (Toy)
The positive reviews here encouraged me to buy this walker. I agree with all the other reviewers that it really is a terrific, well-made product from a reputable company. The one thing I would add is that if you want to adjust the rolling speed, you need to use a coin to turn the gray plastic screws on the underside by the front wheels until they create friction with the wheels. The instructions that come with the toy are very limited and don't specify this. Perhaps this is obvious to others, but I just thought I'd mention it because it wasn't initially obvious to me. Once I adjusted it, it is the perfect speed for my 10 month old who crawls but does not yet walk independently.

5.0 out of 5 stars quality walker, September 12, 2009
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Haba Walker Wagon (Toy)
Great walker. Wanted a simple walker that did not require batteries or had a bunch of activities on it. We already have plenty of toys, so we just needed something sturdy to teach our 11 months old how to walk. He loves the walker and climbs all over it every day. It is very sturdy, he can pull himself up on the handle from the floor without it tipping over. Unfortunately he climbs onto the seat standing up and holding on to the handle but hasn't fallen over as the walker is well balanced. The only slight drawback is that it doesn't turn easily so I have to supervise and help him when he reaches an obstacle. Some reviewers wrote that the wheels squeak, and they do a little. It comes from the friction of the axels on the wood, but nothing bad that would prevent me from buying again if faced with the choice.

The price is a little high compared to all the plastic varietys on the market, but the nice thing is that the walker can be used as a "wagon" long beyond him being able to walk. In fact our 4 year old is also loving it and pushing the little one around in it. Shipping was swift and the walker came fully assembled except the handle was folded forward for shipping so it had to be pushed back and top screw tightened. It took about 5 minutes (wich included getting the wrench). Ultimately I based my decision for buying the Haba walker over other wood products on my prior experiences with toys from this company. They are safe (paint, construction) and always very well made.

I want to start off by saying that this was a major purchase for me. I do not make much money, but wanted to buy my son a good quality "walker" as opposed to something made of cheap plastic. I poured over a hundred reviews, at least, and decided on this. I love Haba toys and I thought, based on reviews, that this walker would be worth spending a portion of my rent money. Well, it wasn't. And I will tell you why:
First, the instructions were ridiculous. There were none. And they give you an allen wrench, but the bolts they give you have a smooth top, so you can't even use a screwdriver. Then they wouldn't screw in all the way, so they stick out about 1/4", and are very sharp. Not good. And because they don't screw in all the way, the nuts don't screw on tight enough. I was willing to overlook that, to an extent. But I realized that as well made as this is, it is ABSOLUTELY not worth what I paid for it. I would happily spend $50 on it, but not almost $150. My son enjoyed sitting on the seat, but that was the only appeal. So I decided to return it. I figure my son is going to walk when he is ready.
I hope I am able to help someone in their decision. If money is an issue, buy the Melissa and Doug click clack alligators. It is built way better. With this walker, it isn't heavy enough in the front, so my son, who is 11 months but weighs well over 25 lbs, kept pulling it down on himself. That didn't happen with the Melissa and Doug. He was just too tall for it.

I bought this for my 11 month old daughter to encourage her to begin walking. However, my three year old son likes to put her in the seat and wheel her around the entire house! This has to be one of the best walker products on the market -it is durable, sturdy, stylish, and made of wood. I know this walker will last forever because my son uses it a lot more than my daughter does -my son is pretty tough on toys. When my daughter does get a chance to use it -she loves walking behind it all over the house! Highly recommend this product -way to go HABA!!

I love this product! I like the fact that you can tighten the wheels so that you child will not fall forward when pushing. My son also really likes walking with it. I would definitely recommend this product to others.
