I was expecting these to be a bit bigger but each cake is about 1 inch x 1inch.

These are pretty darn cute and fun to play tea time with my daughter, but they are not what I expected after looking at the numerous pictures available online. It seems that Haba has removed all the very pretty beading which make up the sprinkles, embellishments, etc. and replaced them with colored thread/sewn embellishments. Admittedly, this is better for small children and will be safer for my 18 month old daughter to play with (no beads to swallow), but they're just not as pretty without the beading. I bought these thinking I would have to wait a year or so before pulling them out to play with my daughter, but now I don't have to wait. They are perfectly safe the way they are! Ha!

These are the cutest play food I have ever seen, they are so cute I almost didn't want the little one to play with them. They are all really pretty, made of soft material and each have their own little paper holders. I think this would make a terrific birthday gift for a little girl.

You are not going to get what is pictured when you order this product. They replaced all the beads, except the large white pearl with embroidery. These beads were making this toy so charming. I don't buy the excuse a customer service representative gave me; that the tiny beading was taken away because of choking hazard (if that were true they would have removed the largest pearl as well). I think Haba chose to go the cheap way. What a shame.

The picture makes these pretend petit fours look beautifully and meticulously handcrafted but when I opened the shipping box I found myself staring at sloppily made looking toys not EVEN worth $1 each. Where are the pretty beads? Why aren't the cakes square shaped but rather bulgy? You'd think since the item description uses the word "realistic" twice that these would be deserving of a little awe. Rather, it looks like I commissioned a novice sewer to create these - as a natural toy maker, I actually wouldn't mind spending that much on handmade items but these are made in China! The fabrics used slightly vary making them seem even more unrealistic looking. I read how another reviewer was told that the beading was taken off because they were choking hazards but there are still some little sewn on embellishments (like that huge pearl) and I also concur that Haba just wanted to take the cheap road. Honestly, I recently got some felt play food at the the dollar section at a certain big box store that, for the price, look way better than this. For those that recently purchased this item and say they got the product as exactly pictured, I guess it depends on which seller supplied the item to Amazon. An Amazon rep said I could contact the seller I purchased the item from to see if they have any more of the beaded variation but it's just not worth it. If you want to gamble your money on receiving something as pretty as pictured, go ahead but don't be too surprised if you end up receiving what looks like a factory defect.

These are too cute. She loves to use them for her little tea parties! They are the perfect size and come in a nice box that she likes to use for them also. They do have small beads on some of them though, so I would recommend them only for an older child that you do not have to worry about them putting them in their mouth.

These are tiny. The product description says "11/2 inc", which didn't make much sense to me. I now realize that it's supposed to say 1 1/2 inches. They are more like one inch, small enough to pose a choking hazard. They are too small to be much fun. The papers they come with are just regular tissue and quickly destroyed. The box is cardboard packaging, not something to keep them in. My daughters, very into pretend play, don't play with these at all.

I bought these for my niece when I bought her a tea set for her second birthday. I bought a plastic three tier dessert tray to go with the set and added these. They were really cute and her mom likes them too. The one thing I will say is that they are much smaller than they appear. The whole box is probably six inches. But they're neat looking and I love that they're an alternative to plastics. We have the grilling Haba foods and my daughter doesn't put these plush foods in her mouth nearly as often as the plastic stuff (I'm guessing fuzz and cat hair aren't as nice in her mouth as cool, smooth plastic). With all the news stories about the junk in imported kids toys and plastics in general, it's nice to know these plush foods discourage chewing -- at least they do for my daughter. Very cute. Plan to get my daughter a box when she's two and I get her a big girl tea set.

These cakes were quite nice, and appear to be of good quality. However, the description did not state that they are not made in Germany, but in China, ostensibly under HABA's "supervision". Caveat emptor.
