A very exciting book.,

This review is from: Habitats (Hardcover)
It was the three different strips of montages of photographs across the front cover that immediately caught my eye. The top montage depicts various wetlands, beneath that are different underwater scenes and below that the African plains - from which a large lion leaps out towards the reader. These proved to be just 3 examples of the 14 panoramic fold-out pages of different habitats found inside the book. With the book being approximately A4 size, it means that each fold-out is the same size as four sheets of A4 paper - placed side by side.
The 14 habitats depicted are; Taiga, Tundra & Polar, Oceans, Coastlines, Swamps & Mangroves, Temperate Grassland, Temperate Forest, Savannah, Rain Forest, Mountains, Rivers & Lakes, Deserts, Scrublands and Corals. Each of these sections is supported by some first rate and instructive text, excellent photography and graphics which all melt together into the most informative description of the whole. I really cannot imagine a better book to explain the different habitats of the world - thus making this book essential reading by all those with an interest in the subject. Surely that means all of us? NM |
