We have mice, and when I got their maze it already had the beach scene maze in it. They have played in it for about a month, and I just replaced it today, with the "house" maze, but truly it would probably have lasted another month. The package says you can cut away any wet parts, I never did, as my mice only "tee teed" a small bit on it. Mostly they just nibbled away, as they are supposed to do. It is a lot of fun for them and I truly believe it makes their lives happier to have something like this to play in. Our mice (when awake) are very busy type animals and they loved moving their litter about and making closed off "rooms" in the lower part and also liked chasing each other around the upper portions. They seemed to REALLY enjoy the switch from the old maze to the new "house" looking maze. They were running and climbing all over it like a couple of excited kids.

this tree house looks cute and fun for my hampster, but I didn't like the way it sits in the cage. I would recommend that you get the beach or play house, they are built better.

I loved the idea behind this item but it turns out to be rather flimsy. The pieces didn't go together very well - the Ovo Dollhouse insert goes together better than this tree, which is surprising since it isn't as complicated as the house. The base holds the hamster's weight but the center house just won't stay together. The ladders never sat like they should either. I'd recommend buying a different insert over this one.

I bought this and a couple of other similar Ovo products to put into my gerbils 20 gallon long tanks, for them to explore and gnaw up. This product is especially suited for gerbils because they are althetic and curious enough to really go to town on it. (I bet mice would like it too because they love to climb. I can't imagine a hamster doing anything with this except building a nest and napping beneath it.) Anyone who has gerbils knows that gerbils gnaw up anything made of cardboard (or wood, plastic, even ceramic over time). So depending on the gerbils, this product will last from a few days to a few weeks. In the meantime you can take many adorable pictures of the gerbils sitting on their hauches or climbing up the ladders, and looking out the treehouse portholes. Loads of cuteness for the money. The reason I did not rate this as five stars was because these Ovo products, especially the beach house (also adorable), have several pieces and take some time to put together. I had pre-teen build them for me, which is a good thing because if I had to do it myself they might still be in the wrappers.

our hamster is not remotely interested in this thing. I think we will remove it and put a rock in the space, may be more use.
