THis book is great. It's points are very practical, but timely. I love the presentation format so much that I use this book as the basis for our church leadership training for our group ministry leaders. Some books have good information for small groups, but are not practical for the everyday laity to read. I have found the presentation of this book to be perfect and pertinent for easy reading. The practical information is priceless.

The points help us to keep our group leaders focused on the fundamentals of leading for and caring for a group- pray, invite, contact members weekly, plan, mentor apprentices, etc. I supplement the book with Dave Earley other book 'Turning Members into Leaders'.

I have found it extremely essential to train leaders, but also not to overwhelm them or confuse them or provide them with information that does not directly influence their tasks as group leaders. This information hits the nail on the head.

I live in the same town where Dave built a thriving church from nothing to over 2000 in a relatively short time. I know him personally, because I'm a pastor in the same city. I've always admired the job Dave and his friends did in building this church--not because they got large numbers, but because they were serious about releasing their members into real small group ministry.
This book looks like a good, simple training manual for leaders of small groups. Churches interested in a "getting started" piece to give new group leaders would do well to look as this as a possible resource. Very well done.

This is a 'must have' book for anyone thinking about leading small groups. The details are priceless, as well the instructions.

I love this tool for training small group leaders. I actually created powerpoints, handouts, etc. to go along with this book and taught a 9 weeks School of Leaders in our church and had 25 people to graduate. It worked great. Many of those are now leading successful small groups!
