For True Wine Nuts!,
By W. John Switzer (Toronto, Ontario Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hachette Wine Guide 2002: The French Wine Bible (Hardcover)
The Hachette Guide is the best, most comprehensive book of wine reviews I have yet encountered. It covers every region of France and incorporates review notes from a huge panel of tasters who submit their notes and ratings to the compiler of this book. It has been translated from French and this is only the second version of this annual to be available in English. The translation is first-rate.The book is full of true wine discoveries so for someone planning to travel to one of the French wine districts this is an ideal planning resource. For each wine reviewed (I suspect only the highest ranked wines are included in this book - there are thousands listed, BTW) there are review comments, rating stars for the truly outstanding wines, details on the vinification processes used and address, telephone and fax numbers, visiting hours, e-mail address details, etc. Every wine lover should have a copy of the Hachette. |
