I got this advent calendar as a backup because the Kinder Advent calendars were sold out. Glad I tried it, but sheesh, they aren't exactly giving this away. Odd, not unpleasant, fillings which the kids universally rejected. I ate most of them. The outside chocolate is very good but then the fillings in most of them was an odd mixture of fruit gel and maybe marzipan? At least it made a festive decoration but I think I will try another advent calendar next year.

Decent Advent Calendar, Candy Doesn't Taste Great,

To clarify for this review, I love Snickers, Twix and chocolates that involve peanuts, carmels, nuget, toffee and even some truffles. So far we've eaten the first 12 days of this calendar (that dropped $10 in like a week) and don't care for the calendar at all. There are a lot of liquor-tasting chocolates in there, with centers that just are not enjoyable. My wife has a better palette than I do and she wasn't impressed with anything in here so far.
In fairness we haven't gotten all the way through the calendar, but so far, no impressed. I wouldn't recommend this -- stop by Walmart and look for a Russel Stover one or something. |
