The Hachiya persimmon has been around for a long, long, time. Hachiya fruit is very large and oblong, pointed at the end with bright orange-red skin. The fruit is the best cooking quality, and the preferred choice for baking persimmon cookies. Fruit is astringent, so be sure to let ripen to a soft consistency before using. The persimmons ripen in November. Tree is self fertile so no pollinator needed. Chill hours needed only 100 to 200, so enjoy in mild winter areas. Hardy to USDA zone 7 and all higher zones. Enjoy the fruit for cooking, drying or freezing. Shipped potted in soil for best possible results when planted in yard or garden.
