Book Description

Becky Taylor seems like a typical suburban stay-at-home mom with a loving husband and an adorable son, but she has a secret. In between juggling judgmental playgroup moms, an intense career-minded prosecutor of a husband, and a sister who can’t stop reminding her of her old ambitions, Becky moonlights for one of the world's most controversial websites, helping to expose state and corporate secrets. To make matters worse, now the feds are on her tail.

The more complicated Becky’s life becomes, the more equipped she feels to handle it. Who says you can’t be one of the world’s most dangerous international whistleblowers and still make a killer meatloaf?

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast-paced and fun read! September 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
What a fun and addicting glimpse behind the curtain into the world of wikileaks and hacker conventions - through the eyes of a very relatable suburban mom who's just stumbled into way more than she bargained for. I love this kind of fiction - the characters make you laugh and the plot races forward, and without even realizing it you grown just a little smarter about a timely and controversial topic.

The concept of the Kindle serial is brand new to me - but from what I can tell, these are subway-ride-sized doses of stories intended to add up to an interesting full-length saga. Kind of like an episode of really quality television - satisfying on its own, but even more enticing when viewed as an intro to a continuing drama. Can't wait to read the next installment!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very promising beginning, I want to read more! September 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
As a software engineer, I often find stories relating to computers and software to be cringe-inducing. Not "Hacker Mom" - while there are a couple of improbables here, notably that any woman would be treated well at DEFCON, I can overlook those and enjoy the story. It will be interesting to see where this one goes. I am looking forward to additional episodes.

I have now read all the installments, and overall I liked "Hacker Mom" a lot. It didn't go where I thought it would, which is fine. The ending seemed a bit sudden and forced to me, but the story became more complex as it went along and it remained interesting to the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hacker Mom - Entertaining, Well-Drawn Thriller September 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Just finished part 1 of Hacker Mom - it's a tight, fun read! I instantly felt for the characters and was drawn into the cloak and dagger goings on. I liked how the author put us in the middle of action, yet simultaneously was able to seamlessly give us insights into characters' emotional states and histories, particularly the protagonist, Becky. The tale is vividly told and feels very timely considering WikiLeaks and the and the financial collapse across the world. I can't get over what a an intense, fun read this was. Please release pt 2 so I can see how Becky's gonna handle her new life!

3.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't finish
Ok, so it has a would-be interesting idea behind it, but not that well written. It couldn't hold me past the first 30 pages or so.

1.0 out of 5 stars Faded Away
This story had a strong start but the last installment was poorly written and the ending was a big letdown. Weak and not worth the wait.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very fun read; looking forward to more.
I really enjoyed the premise of the story, and the characters were great. I read the eBook, so I'm not sure how long the book actually is, but it felt like a quick read.

Seems like it came to an end, that a new book could start there. I liked it, cannot wait to see what happens next with their new project, but like I said, the author seemed to create a stopping point for now.

Thanks so much! I'm so glad the humor is coming through. I was worried that it wouldn't.

Why all the profanity all of a sudden? Don't remember reading much at all in the first three. Very disappointed. SO unnecessary. Ruined my reading of the 4th chapter. Please be minimal with profanity. It doesn't change the impact and it isn't needed to enjoy the story!

I'm in episode two and reading it a lot more slowly than I'd like to. I like the idea of this serial thing but I'm not sure I'll keep reading serials. The wait is too long. I'm afraid if I read the rest of the second episode right away, as I'd like to do, by the time the next episode gets here... Read more
