IT HAD TO BE US is a beautiful and touching tale of how true love can span decades, generations, marriages to other people and the entirety of a lifetime. From chance meetings, rekindled love affairs, and a foray into the Debbie Reynolds museum in Las Vegas, Nevada, this is a story that, however brief, is an awesome saga of two lives brought back together that were never really apart. It will bring you to tears and bring about hopefully a belief that that old fashion love that once existed on the silver screen can again exist in real life.

I loved this book! Sweet, poignant and truly a romantic tale! Told in a "he said, she said" format, this story of romance rekindled gives the reader a peek inside the hearts and minds of two lost lovers reuniting after 20 years apart. They meet and move forward with great trepidation, fearful of admitting the intense feelings they each still each hold unbeknownst to the other. As they move from friends to lovers, their passion reignites in a way that disallows anything but remarriage the second time around. Most of us wonder, "could it ever be again" with that certain someone from the past - well, this proves beyond a doubt that it can and does happen. In addition to the journalized story, there are great recipes they shared during their new romance and a plethora of wonderful movie reviews of those they most enjoyed watching together. A fun read that proves true love never dies!

Written with a great sense of humor, the story captures one's heart by sincere emotions and warm memories. Time can't erase the essential, but only separate it from the momentary. This is how I'd define the basic idea of that captivating love story that is based on true events. One who knows how love feels would agree that it's exactly the way it is described in this novel.

The couple changed their names for this book, but the story, itself, is true. Their distinctive interpretation of their lives is such a fascinating slant on authorship. The book is written in a "He Said/She Said" format. When reading these memories by each of them, it is obvious that men and women certainly view situations differently. I truly believe that, no matter your preferred genre, you will enjoy this book. It Had To Be Us is a marvelous pick-me-up, fast-paced rendition of how lives can come full circle! I appreciate the format Harry & Elizabeth chose for their romantic memoir. It speaks to my fascination with the communication (styles) and process between men and women, and just people in general. The ways in which we view and interpret situations and conversations differently, and what sadness can arise from our different perceptions. It's also personally very revealing to have both sides comment on the same situation or conversation. I applaud the authors' courage and honesty in sharing with us these very private moments and feelings. I could feel my heart cramping as their vignettes recalled my own past experiences and pains.

I finally read this wonderful novelette. It was so rich with emotion I could almost feel what Harry felt when he was writing his letters -- and I found it very flavorful, very sincere, and, like Spring, very blooming. I also learned a lot about Elizabeth, and even though I am still young in years, I can tell she is a truly wonderful individual, caring, genuine, loving, and a brave heart for putting together and publishing such a personal account in such intricately rich personal detail for unknown eyes to see. Thanks to Harry and Elizabeth for writing this beautiful novelette.
