3.0 out of 5 stars fun and delightful
This is a fun and delightful read, a very refreshing romantic comedy. Sunny Elders goes on a cruise with her family, while Dan Jarett goes on the same cruise to find out the truth about his new stepfather. Two people with two different purposes for being there. The two keep bumping into each other again and again, until they begin to fall in love. Predictable? Yes! Funny,...

Dan was positive Charlie was a fraud after his mother's money. Esther and Charlie took Dan, his sister, and his brother-in-law on a family Caribbean cruise to show them the magic.

Nurse Sunny Elders was in her element in an Emergency Room, but a trouble magnet outside the hospital walls. Her depressed sister had been in dire need of a vacation with her husband. So off on a cruise they went! Sunny took charge of her niece and nephew on board the Love Ahoy and trouble took charge of Sunny, as usual. And a few "Crazy Aunt Sunny mishaps" was what brought Dan and Sunny together. Sometimes God works in mysterious, and often hilarious, ways!

This book is pure delight! A sassy and funny romantic story that had me laughing (UN-lady like) out loud! This is DEFINITELY one for the Keeper Shelf, Readers! Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favs, August 20, 2004
This review is from: It Had to Be You (Palisades Pure Romance) (Paperback)
This book is one of my alltime favorites.
I loved Sunny's possitive, zanny out-look on life.
I absolutely adored Dan and his overprotectiveness of his fam.
I would recommend it whoever is reading this review.
Windsor will have you laughing at Sunny's predicaments from the beginning to the very end.

This has got to be one of my favorite books! Though it is predictable (the endings to most romance novels are), the humor in it makes up for any downfalls this novel may have.
Sunny Elders fits her name perfectly, or at least appears to. She is happy and funny, but is really breaking up inside because of grief.
Dan is the opposite. He shows exactly what he is feeling, and consequently, at times, acts like a jerk.
The story is a good one. It teaches that in order to be really happy we sometimes just have to jump out there and have a little faith! You'll laugh all the way through it, I PROMISE!!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book made me laugh out loud!, August 1, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: It Had to Be You (Palisades Pure Romance) (Paperback)
I have only recently begun reading "inspirational fiction" because of my growing disenchantment with the usual content of fiction these days. I was skeptical. I expected heavy handed sermons, but Linda Windsor doesn't give that. She does have a serious message, but that message is packaged in a delightful box! I thought the two main characters were very funny, and as a klutz myself I could both laugh and sympathize with Sunny's accidents. This was my first Linda Windsor book, but it won't be my last.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny, thought-provoking, romantic, July 6, 2005
This review is from: It Had to Be You (Palisades Pure Romance) (Paperback)
I'm not one to read a lot of books but this one had me hooked the whole way through - I just couldn't put it down! It definitely does have you laughing the whole way through, and yet it also makes you think about life and your faith in God. Not to mention a good warmhearted romance to top it off. EXCELLENT!

4.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting and funny, April 19, 2005
This review is from: It Had to Be You (Palisades Pure Romance) (Paperback)
This was the first book I read by Linda Windsor (have since read "Along Came Jones") and don't know when I have laughed so much while reading a romance novel. The last few pages of the Epilogue were hilarious. Did not give it a 5 star rating because I found the first few chapters rather dull and slow reading. Even put the book aside and did not intend to finish it. But then I changed my mind, and am so glad I did. Don't give up--the rest of the book gets so much better!

4.0 out of 5 stars Delightful!, August 31, 2001
This review is from: It Had to Be You (Palisades Pure Romance) (Paperback)
A Thanksgiving cruise to the Caribbean promises to be a healing balm for two families. Sunny Elders hopes her sister Melinda's depression will lift after they have lost both parents to devastating illnesses. Sunny agrees to spend time with her teen-age niece and adolescent nephew while Melinda and her husband renew their relationship. Sunny, a nurse, took care
of both her parents, and as her name belies has hidden her own grief relying on her faith to get her through her pain.
Enter Dan Jarrett, a Texas rancher, angry at the world. He didn't ask to be on this cruise. But his mother and her new husband wanted the family together for the holiday. Dan is suspicious of Charlie's motive in marrying his mother. After all, his mother was pretty well fixed after the death of
his father. His sister accepted Charlie, but he was having none of it. Then he meets the Mistress of Mayhem as he calls Sunny and finds himself more and more drawn to this good-natured lady.
Events take a turn that has both of them examining the paths of their lives. This is a delightful story of humor, healing, trust, and faith told with conviction.

Yes! Funny, of course! Its a fun read, however if you're tired of the same predictable romance novels then this might not be for you.

Though I enjoyed reading it, I'd say that I wouldn't read it again. It's just too predictable and reminds me of other romance books, so if you're like me you might want to skip it. However its a very clean book, the author does bring in some Christian perspective and the importance of trust, and I'd reccomend it to those who enjoy these type of books.

Another reason why I've given this book 3 stars is because its not written very well, its written too simply in my opinion. Well to each his own, I guess. This might be better for those that want an easy read.

4.0 out of 5 stars You will be cheering for the couple from the beginning, January 18, 2012
The funny meeting of the two major characters in "It Had To Be You" will have you cheering for them to get together right from the start. Sunny and Dan start their love journey on a Thanksgiving cruise with their families.

The relationship of Sunny and Dan is the main story of this book written by Linda Windsor. They are both on the cruise for a different reason. Sunny is on the journey to help take care of her niece and nephew. Their characters are well written and help make the book believable. Sunny's sister has been struggling with the death of their parents so her husband decides they should all go on this cruise for a change of scenery. Sunny has not taken the time to mourn their parents death and keeps pushing those emotions away. How they both heal is the minor story in this book.

Dan's reason for the cruise is family as well. His mother has recently married, too soon after his father's death, in Dan's opinion though. This leads Dan to a background check on the new husband. Dan's problems affect how he responds to Sunny and his feelings for her. Their relationship grows as they work together through the issues they are dealing with.

The book moves quickly and some of it even makes you laugh out loud. The ending works for the story and makes the whole book enjoyable and worth the read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Had A Really Great Time Reading This, July 12, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book has actually beaten "How Not To Live Abroad by Shaun Briley" as the funniest non-comedy genre book that I have ever read! Develops a great romance as well.

The author definitely has a talent for comedy writing,as well as great character development, and ability to write an original romance that not only had me laughing from beginning to end,but held my interest and made me really care about the characters. This book also caused me to want to learn more about cruise ship vacations!

This book, like her "Fiesta Moon" was a pure delight to read, and I am anxious to read more of her work.

Even though I don't usually purchase fiction books, after reading my library's copy of "It Had To Be You" I did have to order my own copy,as this is one that I will definitely want to read again, and again.

I most highly recommend this wonderful Christian contemporary comedy romance for those who enjoy humor(but not obnoxious clowns) with their romance.
