Hadrian's Memoirs I consider the finest gook I have ever read. I bought this copy for a friend of mine and would have sent him a hard cover copy if I cold have found one but only found a paperback issue.
Margaret Yourcenar is a marvelous author. She writes in a narrative style which is not only readable but she had managed to make us feel "we were there," and knew this emperor personally. Sounds like a high flown claim but read it for yourself for a wonderful experience. You'll always remember it. |
