5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Companion for a Medical Student, November 19, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
First and foremost: I am a second year medical student at an American Allopathic Medical School. This book came highly recommended by multiple upper-classmen, but I was hesitant to buy it given that it lacked any reviews. I have come here to change that.

I can confidently say that I could not possibly be happier with my purchase. This book is clearly and thoroughly written, and seemingly difficult concepts are laid out very clearly and concisely. The text is comprehensive, and there are plenty of pictures, charts, and graphs to accompany the text for a full text on the concepts of hematology. A concept that consumed a 1 hour lecture at my institution (the classification of Lymphoid cell disorders) was conquered in a measly two pages of text in this book.

The caveat being, of course, that I cannot speak for all medical students across the country. At my particular school, this book covers EVERY concept covered in lecture and lab very handily. It is certainly possible that your school covers other topics entirely, or that this text is insufficient - regardless, I am sure that it will set a great foundation of the concepts that you will need to ace your hematology course.

The other caveat is that this books appears to be written and published in the UK. Thus, there is some vernacular that is somewhat different (ie: "Haematology" as opposed to the American spelling, "Hematology"). As you can probably tell by that example, you shouldn't have any problems making the small translations in your head.

Summary: 5 Stars for a perfect score.
Caveat: May not be comprehensive for your particular institution. Nevertheless, I am sure it will be helpful.

Happy trails, and good luck studying.
