The poetry of Hafiz, the 14th century Persian poet, has been referred to, along with Rumi, Shakespeare and Dante, as one of the seven great literary wonders of the world. To Persians, the poems of Hafiz are not classical literature from a remote past, but cherished wisdom, humor and love from a dear and intimate friend.
Hafiz has come alive again through the work of Daniel Ladinsky, whose best-selling books include The Gift, The Subject Tonight is Love, and I Heard God Laughing. The poetry is paired with original photocollage creations by Laura Goode. Laura’s art utilizes traditional art forms conceived in an entirely modern way.
