5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent perches!
I think these are excellent perches. ( I have absolutely no financial interest in the company that makes them, or in any pet supply company that may sell them )

We bouught 8 of these for our two cockatiels, our english budgie and lovebird, and now we plan to buy more of them, because they WORK.

We had some other concrete perches before that...

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware!
I thought these perches were a brilliant idea at first. My cockatiels loved them.
Two days ago we woke to find a very healthy 10 month old cockatiel dead, face down on the bottom of the cage. There was no signs as to what had killed her. We were naturally devastated. I had gone over in my mind repeatedly what could have killed her as the night prior she had been...

I think these are excellent perches. ( I have absolutely no financial interest in the company that makes them, or in any pet supply company that may sell them )

We bouught 8 of these for our two cockatiels, our english budgie and lovebird, and now we plan to buy more of them, because they WORK.

We had some other concrete perches before that didn't do a thing for trimming sharp talons but these DO. Unlike the others, the surface is rough enough.

And the birds like them so much that some of them actually sleep on them at night. That's a vote from them, the way I see it.

And the price is very reasonable. What else can I say? :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality for the price!, September 19, 2005

This is very strong, rough-surfaced (trims the nails) and sturdy. Easy to attach. Beware: sizes are much larger than expected! Medium is ~2" wide: way too large for parakeets, but perfect for parrots.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality for the price!, September 19, 2005

This is nice, rough-surfaced, very good to trim the birds' claws. Easy to attach to any cage. The only problem: this item sizes larger than expected: the extra-small size is actually rather medium (~1" wide). The larger sizes are way too large for parakeets, but good for parrots.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Cockatiel-sized birds, March 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
As was mentioned in a previous review, even though this states it is a "mini" perch, it is more appropriately sized for cockatiels, conures, small lories, and poicephalus. You could also use this for lovebirds and budgies and it would be effective for its intended purpose (to file down nails). I think it is too short and of too small a diameter to be comfortable for anything larger than the listed species. I think the product is reasonably priced, especially with the option of free Prime shipping. My sun conure enjoys this perch and uses it more frequently than any others - to prevent them from sitting on such an abrasive surface too much, make sure this perch is not the highest in your bird's cage.

4.0 out of 5 stars sized corectly, October 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It works well I have no complaints. Many reviews said it was way big for a medium but I would say it is sized correctly. At its largest point near the cage edge it is 1.5 inches and is 8 inches long. It seems a bit small for our umbrella cockatoo, but it works.

I bought this for my caiques toenails. He even uses it to hone his beak. Has cut the trips to the groomers down to about once a year. Would recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Meant for very small birds with small cages, July 20, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My cage has 0.63" bar spacing, which is too much of a gap for this perch. My birds are about 6-7 inches from head to tip of tail. I would recommend this perch for smaller birds with a smaller bar spacing. Other than that, I love the next size up for this perch, and so do my birds.

5.0 out of 5 stars A hit for the 'keets and the 'keet mommy., July 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When I first put this thing in the cage, my birds looked at me as if they were going to say "mommy, what the heck is this thing you've set in our space?" So, I left them alone and let them figure it out. They did everything in their power to avoid it until I played a teeny trick on them and set their water dish nearby. With slow, careful steps, they 1-upped me and stood OVER it to get a drink. An hour later, one 'keet decided to come down. He loved it, so of course his busy body brother had to try it too. HE loved it! They were both literally trying to get on it at the same time. It's fine for one 'keet, but a little exact. I will be getting another so they don't start fighting over it. It seems to also be a prompt for them to nibble at their own little claws. All in all, we are all happy. They're having fun gnawing and grinding at it, and I enjoy watching them get to know their new addition to the cage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Birds love it!, July 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Living World Pedi-Perch, Small (Misc.)
My birds love this and for a while, they were fighting over it, but then I read on another review that you shouldn't have it as the highest perch because it can be too rough for the feet. So I lowered it and my birds don't fight over it now. I went ahead and purchase some more so that when they do want to be on it all at once (I have four birds), then they can each have their space.

5.0 out of 5 stars Parrots love these. An essential item., June 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My Lorikeets spend most of their time sitting on these. Buy several and save on shipping.

If you have a large cage with more than one inch separation between the bars, you may find that the washer is too small. Just go the hardware store and buy a couple of large washers. Fixed.
