Product Description

The Hague MMC Mini Motion Cam is the original small handheld camera stabilizer designed and manufactured by Hague Camera Supports in Nottingham, England. The new version of the MMC is our most advanced and exciting model incorporating a new streamlined design, the highly advanced H2 gimble, and it now supports cameras up to 1kg (2.2lbs) straight out the box. The original MMC set a precedent as the world's first low cost, yet highly effective, stabilizer and the current model just takes it to the next level. This compact unit eliminates camera shake and allows the user to create those true floating shots. The most important part of a stabilizer is its gimble as it essential that the handle is totally free moving. The MMC has always had the smoothest moving gimble of its type making it far superior and more effective than any other ball type stabilizer on the market. The new Hague H2 advanced gimble maintains the free moving capabilities of its predecessor but has now been housed in a more secure socket which prevents the risk of the handle becoming loose if misused. The gimble has a super smooth, highly polished ball securely enclosed in a nylon socket. The MMC stabilizer now supports cameras from 300g (0.7lbs) - 1kg (2.2lbs) as standard straight out the box. Cameras below 300g (0.7lbs) or above 1kg (2.2lbs) can also be balanced with the additional accessories sold by Hague and attachments to add phones or action cameras are also available. The Mini Motion Cam is ideal for DSLR cameras, small camcorders, SLR cameras, phones, action cameras and compact cameras. The stabilizer is a counterbalance system with the camera attached directly to the top by a standard 1/4" camera screw with adjustment for moving the camera forwards and back for balancing. At the bottom there is an adjustable counterbalance platform which allows you to adjust the positioning of the weights making it a much more simple process than other stabilizing systems. www.haguecamerasupports.com

Hague recommends to try reducing bottom weight but when I do that, I can't get it to balance at all.

I just unpacked my Hague MMC Mini and I wanted you to have an actual review, not just "perfect gift" or whatever that other "review" said.

First: Build quality is great. solid feel and function. Weights, however, look to be washers from any home supply center (But work just fine)

Second: Be prepared to spend 15-20 minutes scratching your head as to how balance is achieved. Be patient and follow the included instructions. You CAN do this! Im no pro, and I managed to get perfect balance in 20-25 minutes. When you get it, youll never struggle with it again. Like riding a bike, I guess.

Third: (and why only four stars) If your mounting screw on the bottom of your camera isnt positioned at the balance point (right, left, or front ,back of center) you will need to purchase a "balance correction plate" from Hague, as well. My Sony HDR-CX7 has the off center mount, so I had to order one from England. In the meantime, I am using a makeshift adaptor I rigged in my garage. It works, but Id rather have the proper part. Even if it is another 25-30$ shipped.

Overall: You wont regret this little stabilizer! Its FANTASTIC.

Out of the box I mounted a Sony CX110 camcorder which would NOT balance no matter what. Thought I was going crazy! The thing would balance best with NO weights and even then it still wobbled a bit. Just for kicks I mounted an old Canon S1 camera and got it balanced in just a few minutes. So after Googling around a bit and checking out their site, I ran across their weight correction adaptor that specifically mentions "If your camera weighs less than 300g. we would recommend you use a Weight Correction Adaptor."

Although the item description mentions "Ideal camera weight 0.7lb (0.3kg) to 1.8lb (0.8kg)" do you really know how much your camcorder weighs and are you really checking? I'm pretty sure every modern Flash-based camcorder (including those GoPro cameras) is going to fall into this lightweight category and potential customers should be warned beforehand. It simply will NOT balance properly without the adapter!

Anyway, I went ahead and ordered the $20 adapter and finally got the CX110 balanced. The adapter just raises the camera a couple inches and I suppose you could MacGuyver something to do the same if you had the items available.

Takes a bit of time and tweaking getting the balance just right. And even then, you can never seem satisfied that it's ever 'right'. It will not make you a hotshot videographer overnight but with a little practice you can get some nice steady video. If you pack the stabilizer in a luggage be warned the ball joint is pretty much guaranteed to pop out and be in two pieces when you get to your destination and unpack. It's not hard to pop it back in but just be aware! Don't let it just ride on the balljoint, it will pop back on with a little force.

I like this product a lot. It does it's job and is a much cheaper version than other steadicams available. I am using it with my Canon t2i/550D. It is very hard to get perfect every time. A quick release system is a must unless you want to spend lots of time balancing the steadicam every time.

I bought the Hague Steadicam MMC specifically for my GoPro Hero 3 Black. I found it very easy to set up and use. If you are having a problem doing this, just search the internet and you will see several videos on the simple process. Because the GoPro is quite light, I found slight pressure with my finger at the pivot point helps keep it from turning in the breeze. An added bonus; my Canon 2Ti (550D) works quite nicely on it as well. Not only did buying at Amazon save a ton on shipping charges from the manufacturer in Europe; the actual unit price was less. I would like to see its accessories be available on Amazon as well; they look to be useful additions to the steadicam, but the shipping charges really hikes the cost up to make them a no-go. Though I saw several do-it-yourself versions of this type of steadicam on the internet, I found the price of this unit not only a good value, but I didn't have to go through the trouble of building my own.

I ordered this for my gopro hero camera it works great it is a lot better quality then I thought it would have been I thought It would be all cheap plastic, but it is a nice light weight but very sturdy metal and I got it 2 days before amazon said I would:) it took me about 10-15 min to blance everything it comes with weights, this is definitely a great steadycam for lightweight cameras

Opened up my new Hague stabilizer. Took about 30 min to calibrate. Tested and BIG difference! Not a bad price. Need to practice a while though to get the handle of it.

The lower portion of the ball joint socket came apart, meaning gravity is the only thing holding the ram on the handle.

Before that, the only camera this is good for is a go pro, as anything that is not perfectly symmetrical weight wise will pull it sideways.

I bought this to use with my Sony Nex. It works well but takes alot of practice. Any small adjustment of the counterweights and you will have to readjust. It is inexpensive and the build quality is good. I like the portability - it is small and packs flat.
