Total junk. Don't waste your money,

I wish I had read all the negative reviews this company gets before wasting my money and time. The first unit worked for about 5 months, then it simply stopped gathering water. The unit looked like it was working, so I did not notice the problem right away, until I checked the the bucket which was dry as a bone. Tried all kinds of things to no avail. Contacted customer service to get a replacement, and the guy on the phone did not even let me finish describing the problem... He already knew the unit was broken and proceeded to give me instructions for getting a replacement. He totally sounded like he had given the same instructions hundreds of times. I was blown away when he told me they did not want me to send the defective unit back. All I needed to do was to cut off about 8" from the power cord and mail it, along with my receipt and a check for $14 to cover the shipping of a refurbished replacement unit. They consider the units basically disposable and not worth shipping back.
The replacement unit arrived about a month later and it worked fine... for about two months. Then it did the same exact thing as the previous one, and a few days later the fan started making a loud noise. Now I'm out of warranty and have two huge paper weights waiting to be taken to the dump. But I have learned one thing... Never again buy a Haier product!

Very poor quality,

I was aware of the durability issue of the HDN455 model and bought this one in hope that some of those issues are resolved in this newer model. Unfortunately, I was shocked by the poor quality of the product and the sloppy workmanship on the assembly line. Upon openning the box, these are what I have found: there was a screw that fell out from the machine (who knows from where), the evaporator fins are demaged at the factory, the top cover is also demaged so that the tabs cannot go into the slot correctly, the filter cannot be pulled out, and finally, the casings are crooked. Although these are not essential to how the machine works, they certainly reflect the overall quality of the product. Haier should be shamed about the fact that they put out such a shaby product. After this experience, I start to believe those bad reviews for HDN455. This one is just as bad!
