I bought this dishwasher new from a local Home Improvement store. I loved all the features it had and the salesman said that he hadn't heard of any complaints - I was worried because it was so cheap with alot of nice features.

I installed the dishwasher which was pretty painless. We tried it out and the dishwasher didn't drain. Called Haier and after 5 different repair guys, new pump, control board and new configuration of the drain hose it still doesn't drain. Haier won't refund the money unless it is deemed unrepairable (hint for those that have a Haier - but finally after getting so many compaints from customers who bought the Haier dishwasher the big box store finally started accepting them as a return and gave me full credit toward's another dishwasher of my liking.

Also good luck getting a hold of the people at Haier. I bet I called 10 times and only was able to actually talk to someone since they say their computer systems are down alot.

Never again will I buy anything from Haier.

I purchased a stainless steel Haier dishwasher model ESD402 for $400 in February 2009. It seemed like a great deal for a tall tub stainless model with an electronic control. Similar models for other brands were going for over $800. This dishwasher stopped working 2 weeks after I bought it. I called Haier who scheduled service with A&E. The A&E technician told me it was either the control or the touch panel and ordered both parts. The control came in 2 weeks and did not fix the problem. The touch panel was back ordered and after 3 months I am still getting the run around from both A&E and Haier. I tried to have the dishwasher replaced since the part was not available, but the stainless steel model was also not available. I am going to return it to Menards for a refund, and spend the additional $400. You get what you pay for. Even when this dishwasher was working it did a terrible job cleaning the dishes compared to the 20 year old dishwasher that we had before. I tried the rinse aid and increasing water temperature, nothing worked. What a complete waste of time. Do yourself a favor and buy from one of the reputable companys like Whirlpool or Bosch.

Haier has produced an interesting product with interesting features. This dishwasher has a stainless steel interior and on my model a stainless steel exterior. The racks are well thought out with folding tines to accomodate large pots and bowls. There are choices of cycles including "sanitize" which treats the load at a high temperature. The dishwashed functions well even with baked on food.

Installation was kind of difficult, as this unit was slightly deeper and higher than the unit it replaced.
