This review is from: Haier ESA3125 12,000-BTU Energy-Star Window Air Conditioner (Kitchen)
I bought this unit brand new this year (2010) it now has new freeon in it mandated by the fed Govt.
The new stuff used nowdays has to be ran with higher rpm and compressor pressure. Im saying that because this unit is atad louder than my other window units. Nothing really annoying, but I think its more of the conversion to the new freon than anything, so all new a/c's will be affected. with that said, the a'c gives out good cold air, very nice remote control that has a magnet in it so it sticks on side of the unit or the fridge ect.

Not Cool x 2, July 16, 2010
This review is from: Haier ESA3125 12,000-BTU Energy-Star Window Air Conditioner (Kitchen)
We ordered this Haier through Amazon while we were on vacation...watching the soaring temps back home in Jersey, we knew we needed something there when we got back, and our old window unit died last year. The ac came SUPER fast...we noticed a lot of oily stuff in the box, but I figured (hoped) that was a normal shipping thing.
I installed the unit while my husband was at work, plugged it in...no cold air. It blew air. Technically the air was not 95 degrees and humid, but the "meat locker" feeling some folks have described with the smaller unit was NEVER going to happen with this one. I let it run a few hours...it barely took the edge off the humidity. I called Haier directly to see if I was doing something wrong...a little silly, the machine is NOT complicated...but I had to check. The lady explained I must have a defective machine, and she could replace it in FOUR weeks. After I got off the ceiling, I called the seller (J&R) and they quickly sent me a UPS label & a new ac. Their customer service was EXCELLENT. The lady did mention that she thought this machine was being discontinued, but did not know why.
I have a feeling I might know why...
The new ac arrived about 2 hours ago. This time I decided to run it a bit BEFORE I spent hours installing the darn thing (some of the predrilled holes were only halfway drilled)...and it does not blow cool air. I let it run, made sure the vent was closed, there were no obstructions...I am very close to beside myself right now. To return ANOTHER 89 lb. ac is a ginormous yikes.
So, bottom line, I will NEVER buy this brand again. The air conditioner has one basic function: to cool the air, and in this, the Haier 12,000 btu failed utterly. 2x. The fan I am running now is moving more cool air than the ac was. It is 90 degrees and humid here today...alas.
