I bought this "Black Friday" after deciding Walmart's lines were not going to be worth the hassle of their tv.

Overall I'm very pleased. I paid just under $190...considering it has the dvd player in it, not too bad of a price. The picture is quite beautiful, incredibly vivid. Tonight's the first time I used the DVD player, and I'm quite happy with that as well. A basic version of 1987's A Christmas Story shows wonderfully!

I would have loved to give this 5 stars, however there's one little issue. I don't have full HD cable, and it's taken a few days of tweaking with both the picture and sound to get it to look right. Otherwise the color is too strong (so to speak), ruining the image in some instances, and the sound is a similar case. Two things: One, like I mentioned it can be fixed by either customizing the sound and picture, or using the presets. Two, The couple HD channels I do receive....these problems are almost non-existent.

And the fun stuff.... As mentioned there are several preset buttons, including color, audio, and screen (cinema, zoom). As this is a bedroom TV I don't have the digital box, but at least half of the channels I receive are labeled in the corner information box (by the channel number). There's also a Favorites option. The remote is well laid out with easy to use buttons. Both the TV and remote are light, yet substantial.

Pluses:
light weight, compact, viewable from impressively wide angles, duration and transparency of on screen display can be modified, fast forward has many speeds, many image and sound customization options; given the wide range of menu customization options I suggest spending time with them to tailor the image quality and sound to your preferences.

Minuses specific to my uses:
Does not recognize DVD+R, headphone jack not in front (short cord), power cord attached rear left (disc slot side); rear right would have been more convenient, poor sound from built-in speakers, many secondary remote buttons too small and too close together (for my big hands), built-in speaker sound not muted automatically when headphones used, color reproduction varies greatly; I watch movies on discs almost exclusively, no online manual available currently from Haier, so save your paper manual, I'm surprised to find no slow motion or A-B loop options, unless I haven't discovered them yet
