I bought this grill at our local grocery store on special. I've wanted a panini maker for a long time and researched the one's out there. Either I rejected them because of the reviews or they didn't have all the features I wanted and the price was high.

The Haier 1400BSS doesn't have all the bells and whistles I wanted (removeable plates, interchangeable plates, temp control on both sides, etc.), but it does grill evenly on both sides and makes wonderful sandwiches. For the price, this is an excellent grill. I'll use it until it dies and keep saving for a professional model.

This unit does have the floating head (top), floating hinge lock, temperature dial, power and ready to cook lights, a drip tray that attaches (great), and a cleaning tool. It DID NOT come with any recipes.

The panini grill has a slight grill incline so the fats and juices run off. It can be used for cooking meats and veggies too. It's real easy to clean. Make sure you use cooking spray before making a sandwich and clean between uses.

I find that cleaning the unit just after making a sandwich, when the grill is still hot, is the easiest. Just use a damp sponge and run it up and down the grill on both sides. Then take a wet paper towel and go over it. BE CAREFUL the plates are real hot.

I've had mine for a week now and have used it 6 out of 7 days. Some days I've used it twice. LOVE IT. Takes a bit to get use to where the temp knob needs to be but with a little practice, you'll find the right spot. I put mine 3/4 of the way and it works like a charm. Haven't tried meat or veggies yet so those might differ.

The only non-positive things I can say about the grill is I think the floating head could be hinged more centered. The instruction book could give tips and suggestions too plus some RECIPES.

Bought this a month ago- took a few weeks to get from amazon (told it was back-ordered a few days after I ordered). Anyway- worth the wate. Love it! Plenty big for 3-4 sandwiches (adult size). Also love that it has adjustable temp setting. Amazing how much more enjoyable a hot sandwich is than a cold one- especially in these winter months.

Great sandwich maker, I use it at least two times a week and it works beautiful. I'm extremely happy with the quality of the machine as well as the price; it exceeded my expectations.

If you want to eat panini all the time, get this. We cannot seem to stop eating panini. This is a wonderful product. It heats our panini evenly, and there seems to be no end to how creative you can get with panini. The price was very low for such a wonderful addition to our collection of kitchen gadgets. You can spend a lot more, but why. This could not be outdone. I bought this under protest from my wife, but she loves it.

very versital perfect for sandwiches of any thicknes, does them to perfection. for the price you just cant beat this product. would recomend this panini maker to anyone that loves hot sandwiches of any kind.

I bought this as Christmas gifts. Both persons I gave it to loved the item. They use it for everything from the intended use to cooking shrimp on skewers to grilling veggies. Size is great for a family of 4.

We have been using the panini maker every day. It heats up very well and leaves no cold spots. I am very happy with my purchase.

Update: Panini maker died 3 weeks later. Haier offered to replace but I just threw it out and bought a Cuisinart which I truly love!

I love making paninis in this panini maker!

But I hate cleaning it.

Would have been worth it to get the ones with removable grates. I always feel like I can't get this one clean enough, especially since you can't soak it to get the dried-on gunk off.

I bought this machine for a great price. The first time I used it, I was extremely impressed. Cooked evenly, simply, and was very easy to clean. The next time I used it, I made two sandwiches, and they came out great. On my third sandwich, it stopped working all together. On only the second time of use, it breaks. Definitely not happy with this purchase. I don't think I will even try to get it fixed. I will just throw it out and get another brand.

Surpassed my expectations. It brings out the flavors in food like no othee product that I used. Huge savings over comparable products.
