Works great for us!, March 14, 2010
This review is from: Haier TST120SS Stainless-Steel Long-Slot 2-Slice Digital Toaster (Kitchen)
We bought this to replace a Rowenta toaster that was also long and narrow, but never worked well. Our choices were limited as it needed to fit in a narrow space behind our cooktop.
This looks lovely in the kitchen and toasts evenly. The variety of settings works well for various breads, although it will take some practice with different bread types to see which setting is best for each. The default setting is fine for standard bread. Crank it up for bagels or rye bread.
In response to another review, the toaster doesn't wait 10 seconds before starting to toast. It gives you 10 seconds to change the setting after putting the bread in, but it begins to heat right away.
We are very satisfied with this toaster compared to the four times more expensive Rowenta that was horrible!

Sorry, but not the toaster you were looking for, September 23, 2010
This review is from: Haier TST120SS Stainless-Steel Long-Slot 2-Slice Digital Toaster (Kitchen)
Why it is hard to find a decent toaster remains one of the deep mysteries of humankind. Good toasters made with cheap components that break. Expensive toasters that cannot perform their basic function, ya know, toast bread. It's a toast-lovers minefield with seemingly no hope of green fields (or at least, golden-toasted fields) beyond. Given the solid reviews here, I figured I would take on a chance on this improbably cheap model. Alas, no. It is not worth even its low price.
Pros:
- reasonably pleasant to look at
- small footprint
- diodes on front offer some sense of how much longer you'll be waiting
Cons:
- Too short! Even ordinary slices of bread do not fit the whole way down. WTF?!
- Doneness setting has to be reset every time you hit cancel. Want to toast something a bit more? Great. Toast some more, hit cancel and then have to reset for the next piece of toast. Need to reorient your toast because it was too tall? Great. Toast some more, hit cancel and then have to reset for the next piece of toast. Repeat ad infinitum.
- Without any sensors, the toaster doesn't seem to know that it just toasted something. If you live alone, it might do a decent job on the first piece of toast. Have a spouse? Her toast is likely to come out incinerated even with the same setting. Good morning, dear.
- Mine happened to arrive with a dent on the front, making it a bit less pleasant to look at. Although I don't assume that every one is shipped with a dent, it does offer some insight into the quality of the materials.
If you enjoy constantly rotating your toast, constantly fooling with a dial, and living in constant fear of blackened toast, you may be happy with this toaster. If you have somewhat higher standards for your morning routine, I urge you to look elsewhere. Indeed, I plead with you to look elsewhere.

Great Toaster, February 18, 2010
This review is from: Haier TST120SS Stainless-Steel Long-Slot 2-Slice Digital Toaster (Kitchen)
This is a nice looking and efficient toaster, which I bought to replace a good looking but crap performing one. This toaster has easy to read browning settings [string of LED lights] that count down as the toasting process progresses. I'l admit thats a bit gimmicky but it looks cool and is easy to read from a distance.
Functionaly this toaster browns evenly [especially compared to my last one] and the timing is constant delivering consistant results. The single slot design is great for me as I often get "wide" bakery type breads that dont fit in the conventional slots well.
I recommend this toaster to anyone but especially if you toast wide breads.
