5.0 out of 5 stars Mamas can relate to every page!
Every mother should read this book, whether you just had your first baby, your fifth baby, or you already have grandbabies. It is incredibly funny and extremely well written. And Kari is right - since I have a 5 month old, 17 syllables really is all I have time to read!

2.0 out of 5 stars Mama Is Disappointing
Just another boring book of attempted humor by an Erma Bombeck wannabe. In creating even more trashy words for her limited repertoire, such as "asstacular", Kari sinks to new lows here. One would be better off investing in a few weeks of good newspapers in order to learn something meaningful, rather than flushing dollars down the drain with Haiku Mama.

I am buying this for all my momma friends for mother's day! I had to sit down in the bookstore, I was laughing so hard.
My favorite is about being "asstacular". Actually, I have so many favorites from this book. This gal is a genius. Thank you, Kari Anne Roy!

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS BOOK ROCKS!, April 26, 2006

This book is so funny, and sweet, and memorable, and everything that is motherhood! My best friend and I stood in Barnes and Noble LAUGHING until our sides hurt. We could totally relate to all the haikus, each one brought up a totally hilarious memory of that stage of parenthood. Thanks, Ms. Roy, for bringing hilarity into our busy lives 17 syllables at a time!! I'll be sharing this book with all my friends!

My wife and I took a fun walk down memory lane reading your book. We could relate to almost every page. We will be giving several copies out for Mother's Day! We tried to review in seventeen syllables but are not as talented as the author!

4.0 out of 5 stars Haiku for MOMS are the new trend, July 16, 2006
This review is from: Haiku Mama (Hardcover)
I have been teaching Haiku workshops for couple years now and I have noticed a new trend forming. Kari's Haiku Mama and Lily Wang BABY HAIKU both centering on the joy of mother- and babyhood and both published in 2006. While Kari's haiku focuses on the humor, Wang's Haiku focuses on the Haiku spirit - Zen. The reader may want to get both and compare! 5.0 out of 5 stars Sleep Deprived but LAUGHING, June 7, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Haiku Mama (Hardcover)
Haiku Mama was one of the best gifts anyone could give me. My child never slept and was electric! I was out of my mind trying to find 4 minutes of space to read anything...even a magazine article.

This book was perfect. I love Haiku and to have this style combined with the life of early parenting was heaven.

Thank you for writing it, Kari Anne Roy.
Four years later, it still sits on my desk, putting a smile

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking for loads of laughs? Get this book., April 19, 2007
This review is from: Haiku Mama (Hardcover)
Lots of parts of motherhood are hard, exhausting and ... just plain gross. Laughter is the best way - if not the only way - to get through the tough stuff with as few scars as possible. This is the perfect book to fuel laughter and levity in motherhood.

Frustrated because your kid pooped his pants? Pissed because you just discovered a rotting milk cup under the driver's seat of your car? Exasperated because you haven't slept more than an hour stretch for weeks? Kari's hilarious compilation of commiseration will help you laugh through all that. Her ability to capture the quirks of parenting in 17 gut-laughing syllables (again and again and again) is amazing, and incredibly fun to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Great, October 24, 2006
This review is from: Haiku Mama (Hardcover)
I read it... I laughed, I cried (it was better than Cats).
She described my life with two wee-ones to a tee. In honor of her book, I offer:

How did she do that?
She described my daily life.
Must find that spy-cam.

Buy it for yourself. Buy it for your friends who have children. Don't buy it for your friends who want children though... it might be enough to convince them otherwise. You could buy it for your friends who are pregnant though... it's too late for them.
