5.0 out of 5 stars Sesame Oil
I use this oil in everything from deep frying to homemade salad dressing. It has a pleasant taste to it so it doesn't overwhelm the taste buds. The only thing I would change is to sell it in larger bottles, maybe 32 oz instead of 12.7 oz. It doesn't last long at my house!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Sesame Seed Oil.
Maybe I was incorrect in thinking that this was the Sesame Seed Oil normally used in Oriental cooking. This oil is basically flavorless, like a Canola oil. It makes a decent cooking oil but if you're looking for the flavor of dark Sesame Seed oil, this product isn't it. It simply does NOT have the smoky, nutty flavoring that I was expecting. The couple Oriental dishes I...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great All-Purpose Oil, April 3, 2008

I use this sesame oil for most cooking purposes--I was hesitant because of the strong flavor of dark sesame oil, but this has even less flavor than canola, and can be used for almost anything. Great product!

It makes a decent cooking oil but if you're looking for the flavor of dark Sesame Seed oil, this product isn't it. It simply does NOT have the smoky, nutty flavoring that I was expecting. The couple Oriental dishes I prepared with it lacked the flavor you get when using the dark oil. Not a bad oil, just not what I thought I was buying. If you're looking for a light, flavorless Sesame Oil then this is the one.

Considering our local store discontinued ALL Sesame Oil, I was very excited to find it here. Hain is my favorite brand!

I bought sesame oil, not for the flavor but because I believe it's the healthiest oil, extra virgin olive oil excepted, there is. Of course olive oil is not good for cooking at high temperatures whereas this oil is. I like the size of the bottles too. My only complaint is that, like so many oils, this is packaged in plastic. I prefer, for environmental reasons, glass packaging, but of course that increases the weight and shipping costs and would thus add cost to the product. But as far as the product goes, it's great. I read one reviewer complain that it does not have the "Asian sesame" aroma or flavor. That's true but depending on one's perspective, that can be a good thing. It can be used as a cooking oil for any dish and won't ruin the flavor because of it. Read up about the health benefits of sesame oil and I believe you'll be happy with this product. If you're an Amazon Prime member, you'll be even happier.

1.0 out of 5 stars how could they use plastic bottles?!, November 18, 2010

Oils should be in cans or dark glass. This is one of the oldest companies who supposedly supported healthy foods, but then turn around and use plastic, which can leach hormones [ used to make the plastic ], into the oil....virtually tainting their own originally high quality product!

I can't believe they did such a thing and am very disappointed with Hain.

I received this order in good condition but when I started using it it had a rancid flavor. I have used other brands that tasted wonderful but not this one. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

I have used another brand of Sesame oil and the taste of that brand is more pronounced (which I prefer) than this brand's product. Not that it's not good but will definitely get something else when this batch is done.
