5.0 out of 5 stars I can't believe how much she knows about hair! April 14, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've read and love Science of black hair so I decided to pick up a copy of this book. It's a bit long: about 277 pages but it's very comprehensive. She elaborates on the steps you need to take to bring your hair back to shape: chelating your hair at the beginning of your healthy hair rehab and following up with moisturizing conditioning until your hair is ready for protein. She also talks about the importance of moisturizing and sealing and the types of products to use depending on whether your hair is fine or coarse, curly or textured. Topics covered in the book include chlorine and pool water damage, damaged highly porous hair, shedding, split ends, sluggish hair growth, tangly hair, etc.
In addition to talking about how to whip your hair back to shape, she also talks about several hair issues that most hair writers don't talk about including seborrheic dermatitis, head lice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book! May 8, 2012
Format:Paperback
I love this book! This is a reference book WITHOUT the eye-glazing effect that reference books can have when looking up information that you need, and this book most definitely has ALL the information you need no matter what type or texture of hair you have (i'm not even sure i knew there was a difference between hair texture and hair type) I do now pg 23. The way this book is laid out and worded is great for anyone no matter their hair care aptitude.
I can't wait to do the 5 step 4 week hair detox! pgs 70 - 99. The information on shampoos alone would be worth buying the book pgs 73- 78. The end of chapter recaps are great!
This book literally has information for everyone no matter your hair issues or budget! Unit III gives you triggers (causes), intervention (solutions) and avoiding relapse (prevention) for at least 32 different hair care problems of which i have 4, possibly 5 ( chemicle damage, dry scalp etc.)
There is a section for Home (natural, Kitchen) Remedies (with treatment recipies) and an On the Shelf (or salon or internet) depending on your availability to some of the brands, section. The on the shelf section is not just a buying guide, it also gives you information on the products and when to use them. Also it it sorted by type of product (shampoos: chelating shampoos, clarifying shampoos, sulfate-free gentle cleansing shampoos etc.)
Did I mention that I Love this book? because I do! and I will use it again and again whenever i have a hair issue or need a recomendation for a great new hair product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Hair Guide May 27, 2012
By Liz
Format:Paperback
When I first received Hair Care Rehab by Audrey Davis-Sivasothy it was like unwrapping a gift for two reasons. The first being it was packaged so beautifully. There was a signed note in a pink envelope and a ribbon tied around it. I believe that presentation is everything and from the start this seemed promising. It also was like receiving a gift because I am always having trouble with my hair.

Just flipping through the book when I first got it I found several chapters that seemed useful. First of all this book covers topics of many different hair types. So not only did I find useful information for myself but I found out helpful tips for my mom's straight and thin hair and my sister's curly, dry and frizzy hair.

I found out all kinds of answers to questions I had about healthy vs. damaged hair, dandruff, and split ends. In addition there was interesting information about topics such as head lice and heat damage. This book essentially answers any questions I could ever have about my hair and is an excellent collection of materials for me. It is composed in such an easy and helpful format that I will always keep this as a nearby guide.

I received this book for free from LibraryThing Member Giveaway in exchange for an honest review.
