A great finish to a great band-type-thing,

I've been an Atom and his Package fan for years, and had the utter joy of seeing the man play live 3 times. This cd (and bonus dvd) are a recording of his final show, sound quality is absolutely wonderful, and it's a great piece of musical history, pretty much.

I love Atom & His Package.
But the harsh reality of this release is the fact that it's near-karaoke. The only difference is that Atom has a guitar. The songs featured are amazing. If this were simply a greatest hits compilation, I would be sold. However, the tracks on this album are sung by an asthmatic-sounding Atom who is too busy sweating and catching his breath to sing his songs. He honestly sounds like just finished running a marathon. On the positive side, The Zambonis appear on the DVD. Overall, mediocre.

27 tracks and a concert DVD for under $15? It's hard to complain about that, but I will.
In writing this review, I should mention that I haven't even watched the DVD yet. I've actually just finished listening to the CD, and had to comment. We all know that live performances are much more difficult to "mix", but whoever was on audio for this recording just did not know his job. The instrumentals weren't much of a problem, but the vocal recording was just terrible. It overpowered all the other elements and sounded like it was recorded on a My First Sony tape recorder. Oddly enough, the CD sounds worse than the samples on Amazon. I gave it three stars because the music is brilliant, and I liked it when I've heard other recordings, but it lost two stars because of the sound quality (or lack thereof) on this CD. In short, I would rather spend the $45+ to get all these songs on the various other albums.

I've been listening to this guy make music since his very first album. I must say, it's really a shame that this is his final show.
First off, he has developed enormously as a musician. The first song I heard his real talent on was "Head, She's just a.." Well, with tracks like "I'm downright amazed...," "Possession," "Upside Down From Here," and "Shopping Spree" his progression into making solid great songs has been made. Even my friends who HATED us playing atom all the time years ago have turned around and become atom fans due to these gems. As far as his vocals on the disc, all I have to say is unfortunate. It's unfortunate that he'd leave music right when he finally developed himself vocally. In all the years I've followed and admired his music, Adam's vocals have never been as good as they are in this live version of "Happy Birthday Ralph." His music is definately funny, so laugh all you want. But I wouldn't have followed the music of a comedian for years and years. This guy is really talented. My friend summed it up best when I asked why he liked Atom. "He's just so different then everything else. There's nothing else like it."

I saw Atom And His Package a year before this and I was amazed that the dvd wasn't that good. The best parts were when Adam played the guitar at the show I saw him at in person he played guitar most of the time. Now I don't mind that some of his songs he didn't play guitar but I think he should have on more. Plus when I saw him in concert he was a lot funnier. Lastly the dvd wasn't made very well adams voice was set way to loud and was so high pitched it hurts the ears. Picture quality was awesome but thats the most I could say. On another positive you get a lot of songs on the dvd and cd and it is a full concert. I haven't listened to the cd because what good does it do me I own almost every album. Sorry Adam great idea but didn't end up right unfornate.
