Large book like Kevyn Aucoin's first book, The Art of Makeup (which is now out of stock) with superbly done photos. This book not only covers makeup techniques but has great information on hair. It is a British book whose author lives in London and has had articles appear in British Elle & "definitive guide.... how to master the art of makeup application, how to find a hair care regime to suit your style, and how to get to grips with hair styling." A lot of book for the $$$.

This book is realy worth your money. There aren't a lot of GOOD books about make-up and hair, but this the exception. If you're a newbee everything is in it you want to know. If you already know a lot, you always find some new interesting items and facts. As a make-upartist I realy enjoyed reading this book and I grab it again and again to look up something or get inspiration.

This is a beautiful book, however, there is almost nothing on actual application techniques -- which is what most beginners are looking for. Excellent information on products and tools but very few photos of examples.
