Large book like Kevyn Aucoin's first book, The Art of Makeup (which is now out of stock) with superbly done photos. This book not only covers makeup techniques but has great information on hair. It is a British book whose author lives in London and has had articles appear in British Elle & "definitive guide.... how to master the art of makeup application, how to find a hair care regime to suit your style, and how to get to grips with hair styling." A lot of book for the $$$.

This book is realy worth your money. There aren't a lot of GOOD books about make-up and hair, but this the exception. If you're a newbee everything is in it you want to know. If you already know a lot, you always find some new interesting items and facts. As a make-upartist I realy enjoyed reading this book and I grab it again and again to look up something or get inspiration.

This is a beautiful book, however, there is almost nothing on actual application techniques -- which is what most beginners are looking for. Excellent information on products and tools but very few photos of examples.

If you love beauty books that are smart and informative, this one works! I would also like to recommend THE BEAUTY BIBLE, BEAUTY FOR DUMMIES, LIPSTICK: A CELEBRATION OF THE WORLD'S FAVORITE COSMETIC, and DAYLE HADDON.

This is a very good beginners' guide on the how-tos of applying, and buying make. I really liked how the book made specific differentiation on how to treat ethnic skins and hair, and what colors work well for what occassions and skin types.

She explains what order make-up is suppose to on, and even has tips on express make-up, and maintanence. Much better than Bobbie Brown's Teenage Beauty book.

I was very disappointed from this book. As someone that does hair and make up for living I could not find one useful thing in it . There are no new looks or idea and the tips are all old and ell known. and the pictures are of prodactes and not models I was disapionted to see the big letters used as if to take more space to say nothing.
