As incredible as ever!,

Although some say that Hair is seriously dated, I cannot believe that. The energy still mesmerizes and the messages still ring true today.

Amazing!,
This review is from: Hair: Original Soundtrack Recording (1979 Film) (Audio CD)
This album is becoming a favorite of mine at record speed. Not only do I absolutely love the movie, but the music is spectacular. I got my whole family addicted to the movie & the soundtrack, but who could blame me (or them)?? It's irresistable! The cast is fantastic, I don't even think I could pick a favorite song. If you want a musical that lightens your spirit, touches your heart, and gives you great music to cruise on the road to... this is for you.

Read your Shakespeare,
By A Customer
This review is from: Hair: Original Soundtrack Recording (1979 Film) (Audio CD)
To the music fan from Minnesota: the "lyrics" are from Shakespeare. It probably helps to note that the writers of "Hair" also wrote a musical based on Shakespeare's "Two Gentlemen From Verona." They were well-versed, so to speak.Unlike the reviewer from Videohound's Soundtracks, I actually like this album, just as I like the movie. Twyla Tharp's choreography is stunning, and Treat Williams, John Savage (John Savage can sing? Who knew?), Beverly D'Angelo and the others are quite delightful. Milos Forman is a superb filmmaker, but I think (sadly) musicals have somehow gone out of style, and it takes a brave director to tackle one (witness Alan Parker's EVITA).

Much better than Broadway, but I miss "Don't Put It Down",

Although the content is different from the Broadway show, the actual singing, musicians, and recording are superior! Although I sorely miss "Don't Put It Down".(i'm falling thru a hole in the flag....)

Some Great Early Starts!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Hair: Original Soundtrack Recording (1979 Film) (Audio CD)
One of the only Broadway shows that turned out to be a better movie! One sees the early years of such stars as Treat Williams, Beverly DiAngelo, and Nell Carter. A phenominal array of some of the best songs from the disjointed play.

I recently went to the off broadway production of Hair and it made me reminisce about when I watched the movie over and over again years ago. I went to buy an inexpensive copy of the movie soundtrack on Amazon after seeing the off-broadway musical and it was exactly as I remembered. The cd shipped fast and was in excellent condition. Made for nice memories.

From classic songs like Hair to others you wouldn't be familiar with unless you saw the movie (or play), just about every song is captivating.

Origin of lyrics for 'What a piece of work is man',
By A Customer
This review is from: Hair: Original Soundtrack Recording (1979 Film) (Audio CD)
Fascinating lyrics of this song have been haunting me. Was wondering who wrote this particular song. This song is not in the original broadway play, I believe. Have been listening to the sound-track of the 1979 movie version of 'Hair'. This piece has been cut from the movie itself. Help!
