5.0 out of 5 stars On The Way to Donaldson's Dairy, October 18, 2005
By
Joshua Koppel (Chicago, IL United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a wonderful sequel to HAIRY MACLARY FROM DONALDSON'S DAIRY. In the first book we had Hairy going out for a walk and being joined by five other dogs one by one. This book starts with Hairy at the butcher shop where he receives a great big bone. As he sets out to return to Donaldson's Dairy we see five familiar noses poking out from behind a shop. Soon the five dogs are following Hairy hoping for a chance at the bone. But when ducking through an old billboard Hercules Morse (as big as a horse) gets stuck. You can see where this is going as Hairy continues his journey home.

A wonderful book told with a lilting rhyme and meter that makes it perfect for reading out loud. Hairy and his friends are the stars of a vast array of books that have long been almost unheard of here in the States. Well Hairy and friends are making inroads here and I for one welcome the canine (and feline) invasion. If you have not had a chance to read Lynley Dodd you have been missing something.

5.0 out of 5 stars ADORABLE!, September 3, 2002
Hairy Maclary is given a bone from his friend in town... watch with delight as he outsmarts his good buddies so he can have his bone ALL to himself to enjoy. Watch his body language as he prances down the street, strutting confidently but at the same time worried he is going to have to share his tasty bone with his entourage of friends, Shnitzel von Krumm with a very low tum, Hercules Morse as big as a horse, Muffin McLay like a bundle of hay, Bottomly Potts covered in Spots, Bitzer Maloney all skinny and bony...sometimes the best things in life are best shared with friends but sometimes are better yet when we are alone. You will find him adorable. You and your kids will just love him unconditionally because he is clever and cute. A happy feel good read... the rhyming text and pictures are just perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful Hairy Maclary adventure, July 15, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Hairy Maclary's bone (Hardcover)
Another in the Hairy Maclary series. I have almost every book that Lynley Dodd has published, and my three year old adores them all. Hairy Maclary waits patiently at the butcher shop for his bone, on his way home he is joined by his canine friends, all of who want his bone. Hairy comes up with sneaky ways to rid himself of his followers. All children that love dogs will love this book. A great dog, a great read!
