Haitiando is a winner,
By "dianainhaiti" (Port au Prince, Haiti) - See all my reviews

Haitiando, volume 1, with Boulo Valcourt and Eddy Prophet is a real winner. While preserving traditional Haitian troubadour music (that was formerly doomed to be lost in the sea of modern Compas), it adds a new spice and flavor that will keep these songs alive for 50 plus years to come. Whether you just have to get up and dance the cha cha cha or salsa to the infectious rhythms or listen while dining with your significant other, Haitiando will win your heart every time!

This is a must-have CD for anyone who loves GOOD MUSIC!,

I'm not a big fan of Caribbean music at all, but I do recognize good music when I hear it, and Haitiando has to be one of the most marvelous Carribean music CD that I have ever heard. This combination of Cuban son and Creole lyrics will eventually make you dance and sing every song that's on the CD. If you disdain salsa music, this CD will eventually gain your heart and make you realize that the salsa singers of today are nothing but sellouts and untalented losers who share the same tacky taste for salsa music like the rest of their audience, so don't feel bad if you like this CD, because it's actually GREAT CD.

Move over Buena Vista!,

The music of HAITIANDO (Volume 1) is like a breath of fresh air. This is Haitian music with a spicy Afro-Cuban flavor, at times reminiscent of legendary Cuban bands such as, Orquesta Aragon, and Arcano y sus Maravillas. The style is breezy and laid back. The arrangements give new life to Cuban classics such as, El Bodeguero and Almendra, both of which have been done to death. What's more the lyrics are in French Kreole!! If you are looking for something that reveals another side of Cuban music, this is it. In my opinion, a wonderful recording. It is my understanding that a Volume 2 is due (if it is not out already) soon. Move over Buena Vista Club, there is room for everyone!!
