5.0 out of 5 stars I have 3 copies of this game on different systems June 6, 2014
By Yue
Edition:Limited|Verified Purchase
I bought this game for the 3rd time because it's one of the only Otome games that is released in the West. (Must support! xD)
It's a VN. Not really a game with gameplay. It is a choose your adventure story.
This game include the original game and the fan disc of side stories that deals more with romance and less about the War.
For example the Geisha side story. It also has the School Days mini comic extras.
I recommend this version if you are a fan of Hakuoki and would like to see more romance and lighthearted parts of the story.

Now on with the Limited Edition items.
I found the outer box very pretty. However the edges of my box was a little bit damaged. Not sure if I'm unlucky or the others are like that too.
The comb is made out of wood so it is sturdy.
The hair pin looks kind of cheap to me but I wasn't expecting much? The cherry blossoms part is made of rubber.
The charm is pretty nice. It's my favorite thing in this LE. I feel like it is made well.

That's everything. If you have questions I would be happy to answer. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars A great VN and a great Limited ed! June 4, 2014
Edition:Limited|Verified Purchase
Well not to much be said about it, the box it came in is lovely along with the extras inside, the comb feels very sturdy but i cant say the same for the pin (Again, its just a normal hairpin..) the game itself is quite long and slow but that is expected for a Visual Novel, and one of the few VNs to be released commercially in the west on a console!

Loved the animation and graphics so far, especially the character art.

I received my package a couple days ago, and it is now time for the review! (Because I can't wait any longer.)

Let's start off with the package and what comes with it. The only problem(s) the box has in my book is that the box was a bit damaged on one corner when I received it, and when the box is closed, all the things inside easily move around - despite having designated spots for each item. However, it was the damage on the corner of the box that was disappointing, since I honestly wouldn't expect a box - let alone a limited edition box - to tear so easily. Just sliding the box back into the PS3 cover slip damages the corners, though that does not bother me since I do/did not expect for the box to last forever without getting any "battle scars". The tear on the corner that made the box lid lopsided was almost enough for me to lower this to four stars, because as much as I am not actually bothered by the damage on the corner and tried my best to fix it with glue (which kind of worked), it was bit disappointing. Especially in comparison to my last Hakuoki Limited Edition purchase (Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi - Limited edition), I was not expecting the quality of the box to be in such a condition. None the less though, IT IS NOT A BIG ISSUE - it's just enough for me to say that this product isn't 100 percent perfect, but it DOES NOT mean this product is not good (and YOU WILL SOON KNOW WHY THIS STILL HAS FIVE STARS!)

The items that are within the box are pretty good, the comb is nice, made with some decent material (it looks like it is made out of wood, but I don't think it is made out of wood, however I am not sure).

3.0 out of 5 stars Limited edition box was poor quality... June 20, 2014
Edition:Limited|Verified Purchase
I haven't gotten a chance to sit down and play the game yet but the limited edition art box is just thin cardboard with glossy paper on it. I was hoping for a little higher quality or at least not have it arrive damaged. I had to send it back once because the box was crushed- which was Amazon's fault because it happened during shipping. However, the replacement I got was also damaged but I think it happened on the manufacturer level because the shipping box wasn't damaged like the first time. It was just the art box that was torn on a few corners.

I've had this game replaced 4 or 5 times at this point. Every copy has come with a torn box. This is a collector's edition and the decorative box is torn before even taking off the plastic wrapping. Avoid at all costs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reki-jo (& others) rejoice! August 25, 2014
Edition:Limited|Verified Purchase
This visual novel is great fun for Japanese history otaku (as well as bishie worshippers, obvi). In my opinion, I think this can be enjoyed by men, women and people of all sexual orientations. Sure, it has a hetero-reverse-harem thing going on, but there is a LOT more to this story and the art is lovely.

The comb, hair ornament and omamori are quaint. I was naively hoping that the box would actually be lacquer (or at least sturdy) -- yet I still was not expecting that it would just be cardboard. Fine, I get that. But this detail should be stated clearly in the item description. I would not have ordered from Amazon in this case since they have a terrible track record of delivering smashed up packages. And you can guess what happened... the box arrived basically flattened and the "lacquer box" was crushed & shredded. Beware.

If you want this, it IS worth the price. Just don't order it from Amazon. Wait for a nerd convention or find a well-reviewed eBay seller. If you order from Amazon, IT WILL ARRIVE DAMAGED. Truth.
