About the Author

All her life, Diana Bold wanted to be a writer. Even as a child, her sister claims all she ever did was sit in her closet and scribble in a notebook. Now, she concedes the scribbling part, but not the closet part. Why would she need to sit in her closet when she had a perfectly good desk? In any event, she won her first writing contest when she was seven, and she was hooked! She married young, and soon had three wonderful little boys running around the house, so writing took a backseat for several years as she worked a variety of jobs that she hated. Once she started seriously pursuing a writing career, she found it was not as easy as she had expected, and she was not the prodigy she had imagined. But she joined a writer's group, and made a ton of writing friends along the way who showed her the error of her ways and unselfishly helped her get a little better. By the time she sold her first book in 2006, she'd already been at this for over ten years and was about ready to give up. Rejection is hard! But holding that first book in her hands made it all worth it. Now her sons are all grown up, and two of them have babies of their own, so she is a grandma. But she now has all the time in the world to devote to telling the stories that just won't let her sleep. She hopes you enjoy them! You can see what she’s up to at www.dianabold.com, and she loves to hear from her readers at diana@dianabold.com.

the only thing i did not care for was how, (i thought) they intwined someone els in the story and wasted a couple of chaper's (heads up) for an other book and for readers who like that you will love this book and the next to come

This was an entirely new take on the story of Atlantis. The author brought to life a whole new history and way of life for the mysterious "fey" people of Halcyon. Right away the story grips you and makes the reader crave more. But this is not just a fresh take on an old tale-

On a trip to the surface Rhoswen of Halcyon becomes separated from her partner and encounters "surface barbarians" who live up to their name by capturing her and imprisoning her. Sir Sebastian has returned from the crusades a changed man--scarred in mind and soul--he wants nothing more than to be left alone with his experiments. H6wever, when he sees what has happened to the ethereal beauty his brother has captured, he is shaken out of his self imposed exile to help her. Now he must fight his demons from the past if he wants to live life again and win her heart.

I truly enjoyed the journey this story took me on and I was sad to say goodbye to the characters. The measure of a good book indeed.

Fantasy/historical is not usually my first-choice genre but a copy of Halcyon Rising was passed on to me from a friend. First up, I admire the author’s rich imagination that presents us with a civilization that has been forced to live in an underground cavern “deep in the bowels of the earth”. And so begins the wait to return to the surface of the world and the rest of humanity.

The storyline hooks you in and I was intrigued to find out how the plot would develop. I wasn’t disappointed. There is lots going on as well as good attention to character detail. Overall, the book is a good dose of pure escapism. Recommended read.

Okay, to its credit, the book kept me reading to the (rather abrupt) ending, and it had a new way of explaining the legends of Atlantis and the Fey. It didn't have too many typos. But for me, the love story and sex scenes just didn't work, and the plot was tiresome. There were some inconsistencies that bugged me, too: a sword suddenly there that wasn't mentioned before or later; healing happening much too fast; unbelievable action on the back of a horse; and a language barrier that went in and out of existence. So I regret the time I spent on it and give it only 3 stars.
