Book Description

While house-sitting at a waterfront estate, straight-laced Harley is stunned by the arrival of her employer’s supposedly dead son, a maverick Alaskan bush pilot recovering from wounds suffered in an airplane crash. Witty and passionate, Hale’s Point (originally published as The Return of the Black Sheep) was honored with Romance Writers of America’s Golden Heart Award.

“For twenty years, Tucker Hale has been estranged from his father and presumed dead. To his surprise, it is not his father he encounters one night when he returns home, but Harley Ann Sayers, a young woman who is spending her summer house-sitting. Still recovering from injuries sustained in a plane crash, Tucker walks with a cane. Having some experience in therapy work, Harley offers to help him heal. Even though he feels the swimming will not help, he agrees to her idea of working in the pool just to please her. The added incentive of Harley’s ‘if you can catch me you can have me’ didn’t hurt either! But soon Tucker’s father will come home and old feelings and accusations must be dealt with. Old wounds seem harder to heal than new ones for these wonderful, deserving characters. The healing power of a loved one is extraordinary. Passionate, playful, powerful!” Copyright © 1994-97 Literary Times, Inc. All rights reserved

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet, intelligent, romantic October 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I got this book because it was free, and it had somewhat of an exciting first few pages so I stuck with it. So glad I did. Wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. The characters are well developed, the premise plausible, although I'd have liked to know more about Harley's teenage years to understand better how she got to go to Columbia. The romance parts are not too trashy but still hot. I finished it in 24 hours and am scouting for more by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars All the Reasons I Love this Genre... October 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Wonderfully layered characters populate this book, bringing it to crisp, clear life. Ryan has created an intimate and wonderfully engaging story in which the characters are utterly true to themselves--and in the process, become utterly true to each other. This books comes with a "can't put it down" warning label!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot and tender at the same time! August 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
HALE'S POINT is a wonderful book with its lovable (and loving) characters who heal each other. I'm partial to wounded heroes, physically and emotionally, and this book has one in spades. I was rooting for the couple to be together at every turn. Add to this a whole lot of good lovin'--passionate love scenes that burn up the pages--and Patricia Ryan has a winner. Don't miss it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Sweet October 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was very surprised how much I enjoyed this book. First it was free (as of 10/22/12), second it's "self-published". These two reason's alone are usually a "red flag" to me. Meaning don't expect much. I was WRONG. The character's were sweet and the story was well written. I do agree with the other reviewer that I would have liked to have known more about the h's (Haley) younger years, but enough was told so it did not distract from the story. I also would have liked to have read in detail the H's (Tucker) reconciliation with his Father. There was no communication between the two character's for 20 years, it deserved more detail. I think the Father, Son and ultimately, us the reader, were robbed of this. Unfortunatley, the book was wrapped up too quickley because of this. All in all, I will look for and read from this Author again.

2.0 out of 5 stars Thought it was Self-Published November 15, 2012
By Lorijay
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Probably the only thing that kept me reading this silly novel was believing (mistakenly) that since a professional publishing house produced it, it would get better. I kept waiting for the story to have some meaning, instead it was the worst kind of drivel that anyone taking the time to read this review could write; if you didn't put yourself to sleep or die of shame first. A long novel, nevertheless it took a cookie-cutter approach to the love story, man/woman meet and instantly don't like or trust but are deeply and inexplicably attracted to one another, man is physically wounded, woman is emotionally wounded, they both move forward together to heal and fall so quickly and deeply in love that stars explode when they kiss and you think it's time to cue wedding bells, then some deep dark secret from the past causes one them to immediately doubt everything and pack a bag. Roll heartbroken scene with a couple of outside characters who reveal that their lover is everything and more than they could ever imagine and the couple reunites to have hot sex on the beach before sailing off into the sunset. Sorry, I guess that was a spoiler, but really, if you don't see the ending coming after the second chapter, then you'll dislike my review and write your own with 5 stars anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprise or what?? October 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Two people with loads of baggage.

I got this one free so didn't know what to expect. Was way surprised to like it from the first page.

Harley is fighting her demons from the past. Trying to be as perfect as she can be to be something besides what her past is.

Tucker finally coming home after 20yrs of estrangement from his Dad. Tucker is the kind of guy who bolts rather than face the problem.

Coming home for R and R to heal after an accident that almost claimed his life. His Dad isn't home but Harley, the housesitter,is.

Harley and her baseball bat almost put an end to his home stay. He almost bolts again.

Glad he decided to stay and Harley becomes more than just a housesitter. Oh it doesn't happen overnight, but happen it does.

Just a good solid well written story that I really enjoyed. Enough sex, angst, revelations and characters to keep anyone interested.

I'd recommend this one to anyone who likes a truly happy ending.

2.0 out of 5 stars What a BORE!!!! December 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I had such a rough time getting through this book. I thought the premise of the story had hope but it went absolutely nowhere. The development of the characters were poor - I didn't feel like there was any chemistry between them and I disliked Harley right from the beginning - that usually doesn't happen for me - I thought she was judgmental, condescending & immature. I'd have felt cheated if this book cost money...Don't waste your time - there are WAY better reads available than this...
