Fantastic follow up to "How Passion Falls", January 27, 2003

I have been looking forward to this release since it was announced early last year. The "Half Past Autumn Suite" is a collection of original music composed by Irvin Mayfield based upon the photography of Gordon Parks. Mayfield is playing better than ever and his compositions are solid. Some of the themes are simple but the group works them to a point where you marvel at the creative abilities of the soloists. Wynton Marsalis joins in for the playing of the blues and it's a real treat. This is a great follow up release to his "How Passion Falls Album".
