My sister-in-law had this and I had to have it after looking through it at her house at Thanksgiving. The book is sturdy and stands up on a hinge while you're using it. Spiral bound so it is flexible and durable. Recipes vary from simple to more involved, and include prep time, cooking/baking time, and yield for each. The author has TONS of tips for saving time and using shortcuts when necessary. She also has a very extensive list of suggested items, including herbs and spices, to either try or keep on hand for quick appetizers anytime. She has suggested sauces and mustards and cheeses, to mention a few, and explains the flavors of them and which ones work best for each recipe.

The author, Jan Turner Hazard, was a food editor for Ladies Home Journal, and KNOWS food and entertaining, and how to teach us to make pretty and tasty foods quickly.
