Listen Up: I own this import CD, and it IS the original Half-Breed and Dark Lady albums on one disc. Songs I never thought I'd find again, like "Just What I've Been Lookin' For", and her version of "The Long and Winding Road." I grew up listening to both of these albums, and they remain my personal favorites from her catalogue. If you like her 70's work, you owe it to yourself to get this one...a rare find.

I was looking on Cherdirect.com and I found out that this is not the original Half Breed album. If you look at Cherdirect.com, in the music section they have the original Half Breed album (on CD) for sale.

Chances are this is **NOT** what you're looking for- while Amazon says in their info box: "Original Release Date: 1973", it's simply not true:

This is **NOT** an "Import"...

I purchased this CD in a discount bin years ago. This is a poorly produced, sub-standard collection of early Cher recordings pretending to be something it's not. The audio quality on this disc is significantly worse that the original albums, the volume is inconsistent and some of the songs are actually edited versions rather than the originals. Even the cover looks, well, weird.

For clarity, Amazon.com lists the following as Cher product titled Half Breed (links are to Amazon product page for each):
* "Half-Breed": the original 1973 LP (Note that the 1973 original album has a hyphen in its title): Half-Breed
* "Half Breed": the 1999 import CD which contains both the "Half-Breed" & "Dark Lady" albums: Half Breed/Dark Lady
* "Half Breed": the 1995 budget CD you are looking at now: Half Breed
* or the 2007 re-release of the same: Half Breed

Cher is a unique stylist, and there is some good pop singing here. Though many praise this 70s period, she found it confining artistically.The hits are great commercial radio ready,but Chers' other releases on geffen and reprise showcase a more dimensional singer.The fact she never sings these songs anymore attest to her artistic conflict with the songs and the production.They still rate as 70s pop memorabilia, innocent and fun.These songs reflect an era,perhaps their shallow cartoonish themes were necessary to their popular success.Her producer Snuff Garett joked that a hit was beneathe Cher!She joked that their success was killing her!

This cd is a budget cd of song songs from her MCA days. This is not the full cd by any matters. But I still enjoyed this cd a lot. If you are just starting out looking for older Cher material then try this one. But if you are looking for more rare material try several of her anthology cds that go into more detail---there are a lot. I bought this for the price and the simple collection of songs.

I have the 1992 edition and it is exactly the same as listed by Amazon. Cher has a lot of hits and at the time I purchased this CD this had most of the songs that I liked. A Cher fan will be very satisfied.

I ordered Cher's Album, "Half Breed / Dark Lady" and received it promptly and in totally great GREAT shape! No complaints at all -- This source will be my first choice next time, for sure!

This compilation should not be confused with the 1973 album "Half-breed".
It is a fine representation of Cher at 25 going solo and coming of age. However, during this period of 1971-75 she did maintain a business relationship with exhusband Sony Bono, mainly revamping the "Sony and Cher Comedy Hour" for TV. This disc includes her first solo #1 hit, 1971's "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves. "Half-Breed"(1973) her second number one, along with the #1 "Dark Lady"(same album) are also included. So this disc scores well with hits but I like her rendition of Leon Russell's "Song For You". You'll take notice that Cher's distictive voice, her striking figure,(remember the showing the belly-button controversy)and the glitzy costumes blossomed at this time. So this disc serves well for what was to come!

This is the Cher of the 1970s. I love these songs.These are the ones
that cemented her as a Voice to be Reckoned with. I grew up with Sonny and Cher. I had every Cher album. She is one of a kind.
