5.0 out of 5 stars Sophisticated and Addictive
This album is amazing and the new music is addictive. Even at work I keep returning to www.evanandjaron.com to listen to clips from the album. These guys are really talented and tapping into a kind of music that melds the best of Simon and Garfunkel with the original sound of Blues Traveler...and what a price!!! Keep it coming boys!

3.0 out of 5 stars Half effort.....
I will make this very brief....because honestly there is not much to say. If you liked their last studio release, this cd will please you.....the tunes are pleasant.....melodies and vocals are good......the problem is.....there are only 9 songs!!! There should be more since they do not record that often......

4.0 out of 5 stars Very pleased but expected a little more!, March 2, 2005
This review is from: Half Dozen (Audio CD)
It had been several years between this album and Evan and Jaron's last self titled cd. Needless to say some fans got a little antsy wondering where these guys were. I myself was one of these fans. It was quite to my surprise when I learned that they had left their record label and were taking on the music world alone. After eagerly awaiting the new album which would later become "Half Dozen" finally the day came when I got my ears wrapped around the hip sounds.

Overall the experience was very enjoyable. Six brand new songs, that all pretty much revolved around relationships made up the cd, with three fillers from three older albums. All the new tracks really make you wish that Evan and Jaron would have shown their faces on the music scene a little sooner. Also, the small number of new songs really leaves you wanting more. If you are new to Evan and Jaron this should be no problem considering that there are the three bonus tracks. However if you are a longtime fan then they are just the same old songs that you know and love. Favorites of mine include Through the Blue, and All That I Wanted. Also, anyone who hasn't witnessed the bonus track, Couldn't Care Less About is in for a treat.

By all means, the album or ep, whatever you want to call is worth the purchase. I call it an ep and the price resembles a cd of that size. Whether you heard them a couple years back or are looking for some good pop rock to sink your teeth into this is the way to go!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sublime....These guys are truly talented., April 27, 2004

Each and every song, including the bonus tracks, are solid, with great lyrics, vocals, + harmonies. Not one song needs the skip button - that is SO hard to find. I find myself skipping back, to hear some over and over again..Many places are selling them for around the $6 range, so they make a great gift as well...

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD Rocks!, September 15, 2004
This review is from: Half Dozen (Audio CD)
I love this whole cd. My absolute favorite is the Another Mistake. Its a great up tempo song you can really dance too. Same for What She Likes. On the slow side they have Through the Blue.
Six new tracks and three tracks from prior cds. A Great bargain for a great album.
If you liked, Crazy for This Girl or From My Head to My Heart, you'll love this one too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, July 7, 2004
This review is from: Half Dozen (Audio CD)
This is one of those cds who you can listen to over and over, yet never get tired of. I have been a fan of evan and jaron's for almost two years now, and i have to say this is one of my favorite of their cds. They lyrics are so intelligent, catchy, and witty. My personal favorites are "Fly Away", "through the blue" and "All that i wanted"..i cant wait for the other 'half dozen' songs coming out later this year!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best CD in the world!!!!, June 24, 2004

This review is from: Half Dozen (Audio CD)
I loved Evan and Jaron ever since the first time I heard Crazy for this Girl, and i immediatly bought their ST CD and then got all their older CDS as well, and I have loved every bit of them. This one is no different. "Through the Blue" is one of the best songs I have heard in a long time, and I love the unique sound on "Standing in the Middle" and "What she Likes." "Fly away", "Another Mistake", "All I Wanted" and all the bonus tracks are also exceptional and well written. If you like their other CDS you'll love this one, and if you only have this CD you'll love their older ones as well. BEST CD EVER!!!! I have listened to it so many times and still crave for more.

5.0 out of 5 stars addictive!, May 5, 2004

this album is comprised of songs you will NOT be able to get out of your head - which is a good thing. its been in my cd player for about 2 weeks straight, its honestly all i listen to (and i'm still waiting to get bored!)

i catch myself humming/singing clips from the album all day long, completely subconsciously. i have caught my roommate doing it once or twice too, she totally loves the album.

once i found out they ditched the major label scene to do it themselves, it made me respect them all the more. evan and jaron, you have one more new fan (for life)!

5.0 out of 5 stars Long wait, but well worth it!, April 27, 2004

I have been a huge evan and jaron fan ever since I heard Crazy for this Girl the first time on the radio. I am hooked to their harmonies, melodies, and brillant songwriting. They truly are 2 talented, young gentlemen who deserve all the success they aspire to receive. Although, there are only 6 new tracks (and might I add they are excellent), but they also allow you to take a glimpse into their past with 3 bonus tracks off previous releases. I think this album showcases where these musicians are at this period in their life. I would recommend this one to your friends, family, co-workers and even complete strangers! An excellent investment and well worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing as usual., April 27, 2004
This review is from: Half Dozen (Audio CD)
as a fan of evan and jaron's for the past four years, i can honestly tell you that i believe this is their best album yet. yeah, it's too short--that might be because PART TWO is coming later this year! and that is honestly it's one flaw--it ends too soon. it's amazing how much they have matured as musicians (not to mention as businessmen and, most critically, as people) since the self-titled album's release back in 2000.

one word? amazing. absolutely amazing.
