5.0 out of 5 stars You'll never stop playing this game
You wanna know how good this game is? I'll tell you. This game came out in 1998, which is eons ago in the gaming world, and I'm still playing it daily. I play Unreal Tournament and Rogue Spear fairly often, but given the choice, I'd pick this one (and its Team Fortress mod) in a heartbeat over the others. OK, so this Adrenaline pack comes with 3 cool games right? Not really. I play Unreal Tournament and Rogue Spear fairly often, but given the choice, I'd pick this one (and its Team Fortress mod) in a heartbeat over the others. The single-player experience is cinematic, scary, intense and addictive. From the get go, you are immersed in the world of the game and you never want it to end. Although of course the game does end, it's not much of a problem because that's when you can just get online and play Team Fortress with others over the internet. The mod is such addictive fun that you'll have to be dragged kicking and screaming from it for food and sleep. It's THAT good....entertainment that keeps you coming back for such an extended length of time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost 3 Games in 1, But Still VERY Worth It, August 1, 2000
This review is from: Half-Life: Adrenaline Pack (CD-ROM)
I'd heard about Half-Life--this supposedly incredible game from Sierra. But I'm not a fan of the first person shooter, so I thought, "Why bother?" But because I was curious about all the hype, I decided to go ahead and download the demo. That's all it took, and I was hooked.

I immediately went out and bought the Adrenaline Pack and have LOVED it. Maybe it the intensity of the gameplay. Maybe it's the beautiful graphics. Maybe it's the realism, music, and sound. Maybe it's the sheer fun. But in any event, it's the 1st first-person shooter I've really REALLY had fun with since the initial DOOM days, and worth every penny.

Yes, Team Fortess (which you play with against others over the internet) is a free download you can get with the Half-Life game, which is cheaper, but you'll want Oppossing Forces as well, so get it. To give you a low-down on the difference between the other two games, in Half-Life, you're alone (for the most part) and fighting your way out of the Black Mesa facility. In Opposing Force, your the Opposing Force to the guy you played in Half-Life, but you're not alone. Many times you'll find yourself leading a squad of rough and tough soldiers with different special abilities, and it's intense and realistic!

Cool features: Turn on/off blood. It matters where you shoot creatures and/or people to determine how injured they become (unlike Quake), and can outright die with one shot if well placed. (Aim for the head!) The sniper rifle is VERY sweet. And finally, as your team members get injured, it's visible in how they talk and walk. (They LIMP, if you can believe it, so you have to wait for them as they lag behind!)

Overall, very cool game, very cool gameplay, very realistic and VERY fun. A must for the die-hard gamer, or for someone who's not, like myself! (I NEVER buy games when they first come out. Just too expensive. But this one, I made an exception for, and haven't regretted it one bit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Deal!, January 22, 2000

I was hesitant to buy this beacuse I wasnt sure how it would look on my laptop with only 4MB of video ram. It couldnt be better, all 3 games in this pack will play with 4MB. The more ram the better of course, but the game lets you choose your own settings. The multi player is awesome. Buy all 3 in one and save a bunch. You cant ask for more game at this price.I recommend this pack to any soldier deployed.

5.0 out of 5 stars This set contains two of the coolest games ever, April 8, 2000
This review is from: Half-Life: Adrenaline Pack (CD-ROM)
Half-Life is best 3D action game ever made, even though it has its faults (the games becomes boring and repetitive after you leave earth and enter the "Worlds Beyond.") However, is also has some of most frighteningly intelligent enemies I have ever seen in a video game, even though soldiers don't seem to have a problem with running right through the trip line for an explosive mine. If you really get into the game (and you will) you find that it is over far too quickly, but that's where Opposing Force comes in. In the expansion, the weapons are cooler, you don't have to go to Xen for more than a few minutes, and it is much more fun to command a platoon of grunts than it us to control a wimpy, skittish scientist. Op Force builds upon the story establshed in Half-Life, and improves upon the gameplay. Before you buy this game, make sure your computer has a 3D accelerator card built in, because without one the graphics aren't nearly as nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars UNIMAGINABLE, January 5, 2000
This review is from: Half-Life: Adrenaline Pack (CD-ROM)
Just imagine the perfect game made even more perfect. The multiplayer feature is definitely a plus, not to mention the many other innumerable additions that Havas has made. I was in awe when the original engine came out, and now...it's simply a pc gamer's nirvana. The adrenaline pack is a must have for any gaming enthusiast!

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest Game Ever, March 31, 2000
This review is from: Half-Life: Adrenaline Pack (CD-ROM)
This is the best game I have ever played. It is hard to explain and words hardly do it justice.

Half-life is a mostly scripted first person shooter. It is the scripting that truly makes it great. I still remember the first time I saw 2 Marines jumping out of their helicopter and sliding down the rope towards me. That was about the time I realized they were shooting me. It's times like this when you forget you're playing a game and begin to think you really are there.

I can guarantee that this game will change the way you look at computer games. It is in a word "Perfect". If you don't already own this game I strongly suggest that you get it because if you don't like it you probably aren't from this planet (I guess you wouldn't like because the game has some anti-alien undertones).

5.0 out of 5 stars Possibly The Best Group Of Games Ever Made, July 18, 2000

From the moment you enter the Black Mesa Facility to the exciting and extremely cool end, you will be gripped and amazed by Half-Life, and the Expansion pack;Opposing Force. They are both incredibly good games with tons of action and excitement, but a great story and depth to back it up. Half-Life takes you through the game through the eyes of Gordon Freeman, a scientist who is the last hope for everyone at the destroyed Black Mesa Facility, but Opposing Force allows you to witness the game through the eyes of a military soldier, sent in to kill the aliens, scientists, and Freeman especially. They are both incredible experiences and very intense (going through pitch black sewers and venting shafts with aliens just screaming and popping out at you is pretty intense). Team Fortress Classic is a bit different than these two games but allows for really fun multiplayer experiences. This game package has great variety and deserves a perfect five stars. Everything from graphics to gameplay is incredible. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great value, but really only 2 games, July 11, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Half-Life: Adrenaline Pack (CD-ROM)
This is a really good value, because you get the expansion pack and half life, which are both great games, but TFC you can get free off the internet and is automatically included in the update you must do to play multiplayer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crack-Life, June 22, 2000
This review is from: Half-Life: Adrenaline Pack (CD-ROM)
This is the best 3D-Shooter I have ever played. I've been playing this style of game since wolfenstein 3d, and I have never played one as much as I have played Half-Life. It is two years old and I still play it more than any other game I have. It has its faults, but none of them interfere with the actual gameplay. What makes this game so much better than all the rest is the amount of MODs or modifications that exist. For those of you who don't know, Programmers of 3D shooters often release the code for their games so that people who play the game can make modifications and add-ons for the original. Half-Life has 2 of the most popular 3D shooter MODs. Team Fortress and Counter-Strike are the two most evil things that have ever existed on the planet. If you have never spent a beautful summer month entirely indoors, and you buy this game, expect not to talk to your friends in person for a while. WARNING! This game has addictive properties and will call you when you are in your bed, when you are at work, when you are on vacation.
