Half Time Microwave / Convection Oven - Stainless Steel

I have used a half time oven for about 3 years and consider it the most indispensible appliance in my kitchen. It's a shame it hasn't been marketed more effectively because there should be one in every kitchen. I use mine with virtually every meal I prepare. It's especially nice for rewarming and cooking meats, baking biscuits, rolls, or pizza or cooking a casserole in record time. The only thing I don't use it for is baking cookies since the cookie sheets won't fit. My only concern is that it will one day stop working and I won't be able to get a replacement.

I bought an Apollo Half time oven(stainless) for my wife for Christmas 2008. Within 2 weeks it started tripping the circuit breaker(same one as we used on a larger M/Wave for years. Called Apollo on the moisture buildup inside. Was told normal. Called back after 3rd time circuit breaker tripped. No one was available. Called 2)two more times, same thing, no one to answer phones during regular business hours. Emailed 2 times, no response.
As my heading suggests, stat away. I personally think they've gone out of business.

We ordered a new 5th Wheel from Newmar. Received it in July of '06. Door latch on Apollo Half Time Oven failed before we left the dealership. Dealer simply replaced the oven. We have since had the oven worked on once (by Sears-under warranty) when the microwave function quit. Then we had the oven replaced when the heating element decided to turn on and stay on after using the m/w. Note: the fan was NOT on, just the heating element. The smell and heat being generated quickly got our attention. I shudder to think what would have happened had we left the unit before discovering the problem. The only solution to this problem is to either, (a) leave the door open, or (b) unplug the unit. As soon as I closed the door or plugged the unit in, the heating element would heat-up. No button pushing would solve this. As noted, Apollo replaced the unit -- making it the third unit in less than three years. The third unit has worked fine for about a year -- but, guess what? It is now unplugged, BECAUSE THE HEATING ELEMENT IS ALWAYS ON IF THE UNIT IS PLUGGED IN. So, If I get another -- which I WILL NOT, it would be the fourth unit in less than four years. Do some web research before buying this unit or before buying an RV that comes with this unit as standard equipment. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me four times, NOT going to happen.

I can attest to it's lasting power (I've only had it approx. 3 mos or so), but can attest to how absolutely wonderful it is! There is no other appliance I use but this . . . for everything! It is just fabulous - from the convection to the 1/2 time options & the Complete Meal functions are great! I've cooked more than several roasts in this oven (along w/ veggies & potatoes at the same time), in no time flat (approx 20 min) & everything was cooked evenly, quickly & browned beautifully!

This really is the best appliance ever! From my biscuits, to roasts, eggs & bacon, frozen pizza, etc. this does it all. Again, the Complete Meal function cooks literally a 'complete meal' all at once, without a hitch. The only complaint I have is the metal non-stick tray inside - overcooked a roast once that stuck a little & unfortunately took some of the thin finish along w/ it. Now every time I wash it, a little more keeps chipping off in the same spot & would like to replace it but need to find one (hopefully somewhere cheap :-)

I would definitely recommend this to everyone! I actually got a brand new one that was a customer return/ repack for a fantastic price of $80 w/ $30 shipping - can't beat a total of $100 for this anywhere! Want to actually buy another as a gift for my dad who will also LOVE IT! Blows away a regular old microwave in every single way!

[...] I love it, I'm actually waiting on my biscuits for breakfast right now. I have cooked: breads, pies, stuffed pork chops, stuffed chicken, a whole beef roast, chicken breast & tons more. The whole meal options are awesome!! This oven is sooo user freindly, and i love the fact that they gave me a lamintaed cheat sheet. it browns foods so perfectly and it doesnt heat up my kitchen. I love to cook and this thing has made me so happy. no more waiting for the oven to heat up. awesome!

I really liked this oven for a while and used it almost every day. However almost immediately after the warranty ended at one year, it quit. First the convection quit for no apparent reason. Then the microwave. To repair it out of warranty they want $70 plus the cost of parts, etc. For something that barely lasted through the warranty I don't think it is worth paying close to as much as it cost originally. The rep said most people don't fix it. At this point only the clock works and it is a very large unit to keep as a clock!

I ordered the half time microwave convection oven in February and initially I liked it but within 3 months the microwave has quit working and once again, the manufacturer refused to honor the warranty. Thankfully, the seller did agree to send me a refund but I would never, never order this again.

I liked it when it was working. Halftime seems to have some quality control problems. I had to return the first one. Bad door latch. Second one worked great for 11 months then died. Luckily the warranty was still in effect by 2 weeks. It was fixed with no arguments from halftime. In fact the service from the halftime oven people was very good. Even when I had a problem with the paint coming off the metal tray they replaced it. I finally bought Kenmore Elite 6790 convection microwave. Talk about big! The Kenmore is even bigger. Inside and out. Much better made with the same features. The list price is higher. About $350. But I found it at the sears appliance outlet store for $200. The Halftime oven still sets in the box it was returned in after warranty repair as a backup. The Kenmore is going on a year old and is still going strong.

The Apollo oven is a great appliance! I have one which was included in a new RV, and now I want one for my home. It is especially great for 1-2 people, as it is more energy efficient than heating up a full-size oven.Mine did need a repair during the first few months, but the service department was extremely helpful in having Sears come out for service. It has worked fine since.

This oven is a great idea and hopefully better companies will begin manufacturing it. The first time we turned ours on, there was a horrible noise coming from the rear of the unit. Sounded like it had been put together poorly and a fan was hitting something. Called Apollo customer service and received answering machine that said they'd call us back - they didn't. I had read the negative reviews for this product and company, but hoped we'd have a more positive experience. We promptly returned the Apollo oven and will now purchase something from a more reliable/customer service capable vendor.
