5.0 out of 5 stars The Magical Halida Dinova Play's Scriabin, January 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Halida Dinova Plays Scriabin (Audio CD)
This CD earned a Rave, review in the American Record Guide Nov/Dec98 vol.61,NO.6. It was written by John Bell Young, here are some excerpts:

"Scriabin devotees are always on the lookout for the next authentic Scriabiist, someone who puts the bloom on the flower and is on par with the composer's most celebrated protagonists: Sofronitsky,Fyodorova, Goldenweiser, Horowitz, Neuhaus, Pltnev, and Richter. Well, I've found her. Halida is indeed a great Scriabinist. In the most breathtaking recital devoted to the composer I've heard in more than 30 years. Ms. Dinova proves she has everything, at least where scriabin is concerened: a complete command of the subtle rhythmic idioms that govern the ebb and flow or the Byzantine figurations and its relation to interior structures; a preternaturally refined listening apparatus that delineates registration as if each voice belonged to a different world; a grasp of the symbolic that never fails to covey it in sound; and last but not least, a thorough identification with the music's philosophy. That the navigation of daunting technical challenges is hardly a consideration in Ms Dinova's caseis only a bonus. It's as if she lives in the world of the conceptual-an extraordinary achievement given the labyrinthine difficulties of this repertoire. Add to this thwe extraordinary subtley and vivaciousness of her pedaling and the sexy, limpid allure of her tone and you have an Scriabin interpreter destined to lead all others, one who is most likely to pick up where the Sofronitskys and the fyodorovas of the world left off."

" In this work she is entirely at home, offering a visceral, larger-than- life accountthat,if not as diabolical as horowitz's or as emotionally unsettling as Sofronitsky's, easily holds its own in comparison. This, then, is a fabulous disc and should not be missed, The magical Halida Dinova
