I recently purchased the Hall & Oates live in concert 2003 (request show edited) and enjoyed it so much I looked for another.
Based on Amazon reviews I bought this DVD Rock'n Soul.
I appear to have a different version but same 16 tracks but with no bonus section. Its live at the Apollo, New York 1983 not 1984, and is produced in DTS and 5.1 surround. Initially I was a little dissappointed with quality of sound and picture, but I was comparing it to todays recordings which is a little unfair when comparing to a 1983 production. The song versions are outstanding and the show entertainment plus. GE Smith is in top form on his guitar as are Daryl and John in their prime. I watched it 3 times continuously when it arrived and it has really grown on me so much I am in a Hall & Oates revival mode.
Best track is One on One, best version I have ever heard and its not a normal favourite. Wait for me, She's gone, Sara smile brilliant. Kiss on my list, Private eyes, I can't go for that, Maneater, You've lost that loving feeling all goodies too.
Also really enjoyed lesser known Art of Heartbreak and Open all night. What a shame Your Imagination was not included!
If you are a Hall & Oates fan, you need this DVD. But if you are after a precise DVD with crystal clarity buy the 2003 live concert one.

This is a great DVD, with two fantastic concerts from the mid 80's when H&O were at the pinnacle of their concert shows. The Rock & Soul concert is great, with songs from H20, and previous albums hits. High energy Concert, great music & vocals.

THe Apollo concert is a true once in a lifetime performance with the H & O band, plus the two Temptations, Eddie Kendrick, and David Ruffin. This is full of fantastic, sentimental music, that will never again be repeated.

I bought this after a long time of intending to. i had watched the VHS copies of these back in the day and loved them.
The Live at the Apollo is of course great to have and no complaints. the problem is with the Rock N' Soul concert. on this dvd, there is some annoying editing. perhaps to be able to cram everything on one dvd, i don't know. but the beginnings of some songs are cut off or just plain edited in an obvious spot.
SO, with that, anyone that has loved the original Rock N' Soul VHS, keep this in mind if wanting this. it's great to have in some form at least, but still, a better job could have been done.
why this hasn't been released on dvd 'officially' up to this point is beyond me. hall and oates are doing well and this is a great capture of them at their peak in the 80's.

Hello All, this is another Great DVD, showing Hall and Oates at their very best. Soloist performances by Charlie DeChant make this a memory keeper.

This duo has what it takes to get your feet tapping. The audio was great too! This is one of my favorite dvd's.
