Middle school-an alien time in an adolescent's life-comes alive in this book by Keane Manell. This young author brings you into the story with his realistic dialogue and voice. He weaves a story of life in a middle school, dealing with an "alien" substitute teacher to code-breaking that leads to an alternative dimension.
Hayden, the main character, journeys to another dimension at an historic location- the Empire State Building. Will he ever be heard from again? How will he use his powers to survive? . . . or will he? Engaging, empowering and surprising. . . kids will surely connect with this author! We look forward to more writing from this young, new author! P.S. Several educators have already used this book to show students what is possible in their own writing!

Written by a very talented kid! My boys couldn't put it down, but read it right through to the end - and asked me to look for any more by Manell. The writer knows first hand what kids his age want to read - and we're ALL hoping he'll write more!
