Book Description

June 1, 2000
Miss Hallberg's Butterfly Garden is a 32-page illustrated story about butterflies and the remarkable woman whose life is devoted to them and their preservation. During a class trip Miss Hallberg guides a group of children through her garden as she explains the life cycle of butterflies. The children learn about plants that provide leaves as food for the caterpillar stage of a butterfly's life, and sweet nectar when it emerges from its chrysalis and becomes a winged butterfly, in one of nature's miracles.

This review is from: Miss Hallberg's Butterfly Garden (Paperback)
This colorful book, written for school age children, takes us into a garden where the common, yet fascinating, transformation from egg to caterpiller to butterfly takes place. Miss Halberg, an actual person, shows us her amazing garden, one that extends into her house and her bathroom. The best use of this book is to read it to your children while they look at the beautifully detailed illustrations, adding a game aspect to the reading. The author never talks down to her audience, and adults will find this an easy, informative way to enrich their own knowledge while sharing the experience with their children.
