What happens is that the wires in Jingles ear pull out of the button in his ear, due to bad sodering from the manufacturer. I put a small slit in his ear pulled button out and resodered the wires, was it easy?? Yes, just took a little patience. Figured this was the easiest way considering everytime I took him back I had to explain to a sad little girl that he was going back to Santa and he would fix him, but..... then what was Santa going to do with him, would I get him back, etc.. You get the picture. Any questions concerns feel free to ask.

This dog and book is so cute. My three year old received this dog today and he really likes him. He responds to the parts of the story that are written in red. Directions say to be in a silent room and speak loud. I was reading the book at a normal voice with the tv on in the background and it worked great. As far as people saying it will bring your child to tears is not true. The dog is not for having a conversation with. If my son says hi to jingle I just make him talk myself and my son laughs. My son understands that it's just a toy and doesn't get upset that the dog doesn't talk to him. Some people just need to explain to their kids it's just a toy and it's not going to talk back. This product is very cute though and brings a smile to my sons face.

My 4 year old Grandson got Jingle as a present and loves him. It clearly says it may not respond to a childs' voice, so people should read before they buy. My grandson got Jingle to respond to him about half the time. I told him it said "Jingle may only talk to grown-ups." People shouldn't blame the toy because they don't read the directions. Jingle works exactly the way he's supposed to.

Purchased Jingle the dog twice, and twice it has stopped working. First purchase worked for a day, second worked for two. My daughter loves this dog. For $30 it should work. I like the way it interacts with you when you read it. Great product when it is working. I will be returning it one more time. If it stops this time,I will return it and will never buy this type of product from hallmark again. I want a reliable product. I have purchased talking toys for my kids from other companies and have not had any issues.

We purchased this for our 4 yr old son last Christmas. It would work fine for a couple days then quit all together. In total we exchanged him 4 times before they ran out. After I contacted Hallmark customer support, who told me they haven't had any complaints etc. Told me I could take back to a corp. store, but nobody had anymore Jingles. So after some internet research I found that Jingle had an ultra thin wire from the on/off button in his ear that would break often. So when my son would sleep with Jingle or play with him the wire would break and he would not work again.
I was worried that all the buddies would be made the same so I did not exchange him again. Yesterday I received an email from Hallmark saying that they are redesigning Jingle and since I had contacted them they would send me a new one once they were available.
On a side note my mother did swap her Jingle for a different buddy, Bigsby, who she gave to my son. Bigsby has not had a problem, but I don't let my son sleep or play with him beyond story time.
So my suggestion is to wait for the redesigned Jingle, and avoid the dissapointment of a broken buddy.

We got Jingle for our daughter who loved the movie and loves dogs. She really liked playing with this toy after she got it Christmas Morning. After about a week, our Jingle stopped working. As others have said, the wire came lose from the on/off button in the ear. I figured we had nothing to lose, they don't sell them anymore and it doesn't work anyway. So we made an incision the size of the on/off button where the ear and the head come together. We were able to slip the on/off button out and pull the wires out. The plastic sheathing hadn't even been striped away where it went into the on/off button - thanks China! So we stripped the sheathing back with our fingernail and plugged the 2 wires back into the on/off button and it immediately started working again. It is super sensitive and keeps jingling, so we had to turn it off using the switch on the battery pack. But it works again for the most part.
We will never buy a product like this again from Hallmark.

Another FINE china made product. Switch in ear broke in 3 days, thanks Hallmark, you and the rest of corporate America can keep sending manufacturing to China and selling us their garbage.

My 3 yr old saw this at Hallmark and fell in love w/ Jingle. My mother-in-law took her back to get it. When she brought it home we read it to her and my 8 yr old. They LOVE it. Jingle responded every time. Then the movie came on tv, and he interacted with that too. They love him so much we went back and got the 2nd book. They love that one too. We have to read both books every night before they go to bed and several times during the day. They have learned the phrases and now say them themselves when they are playing with Jingle. For the kids to make it work they have to speak in a deep slower voice. So not only are the kids amused they can make Jingle work we are amused at listening to them chagining their voices. An all around crowd pleaser.
