The best 2e product for a 3.5 world, November 30, 2004
This review is from: On Hallowed Ground (Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Planescape, Deluxe Campaign Accessory/2623) (Paperback)
Most D&D books that are not sprinkled with "crunchy bits" like new spells, kits, equipment, c;asses, etc. tend towards the dull side. Or, if they are in 1st and 2nd Edition, they are frustrating to use. Not this book. It explains with all the detail that is reasonable to have without overwhelming the reader about "powers" (gods), proxies, priests, planars, and petitioners. It further goes into describing what are the perfect gods for various adventurers. It then goes into a brisk review of many pantheons, from real world ones of Greek, Celtic, and Asian origin, to the pnatheons created exclusively for D&D, describing the home of each god featured in adequent detail. It is a perfect blen; enough to get the flavor of the god but without going thru each one in an overly detailed and boring way. 5 stars.

The best book on Gods Printed in 2ed D&D, October 5, 2007
This review is from: On Hallowed Ground (Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Planescape, Deluxe Campaign Accessory/2623) (Paperback)
Forget every God book made by D&D 2nd ed. This is the one you should buy and own. Colin McComb does a really good job covering every D&D God or Goddes you can think of. What is truely amzaing is how much is covered in so little pages. When I work on Cleric NPCs for my game I refer to this book like it was the Bible for the cleric class.

Fascinating, February 26, 2007
This review is from: On Hallowed Ground (Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Planescape, Deluxe Campaign Accessory/2623) (Paperback)
If you're a diehard fan of the Faiths & Avatars series from 2nd Edition, this book is for you. While it doesn't go into nearly as much detail as that book, it has about as much detail as the 3.5 version of the same but covers a significantly larger amount of deities. If you're looking for examlpes of how the old guard at TSR would incorporate traditional deities into D&D, look no further. This will reveal their ideas on how to add the Norse, Chinese, Greek, and other pantheons into your worlds while giving you plenty of breathing room. Also covers some of the D&D worlds too, interwoven seemlessly into the work.
