5.0 out of 5 stars Halloween is the greatest horror movie ever., September 9, 2000

This review is from: Halloween : 10-31-78 - The Limited Edition [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Halloween was and still is the greatest horror movie ever. John Carpenter did a brilliant job executing(heh heh) this masterpiece.

While I love the Limited Edition version I found a couple of minor things about this version I didn't like. I didn't like the scratchy loud music in the sudden shock scenes. Also I wouldn't have made it widescreen because I prefer fullscreen and I thought the fullscreen view was a lot better. But I loved the Halloween: Unmasked segments, trailers and the TV scenes but I would have put them in the movie.

If I were you I wouldn't miss this, but I don't know how many are left.

5.0 out of 5 stars Carpenter delivers an undeniable classic., July 28, 1999

This review is from: Halloween : 10-31-78 - The Limited Edition [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Still as effective today as it was upon release, Halloween stands today as one of the greatest horror films ever filmed. There's little to no blood shown, no cheap scares, no Scream-style humor... what you have here is every scary movie idea ever concieved squeezed into 90 minutes of pure terror, shot beautifully by Carpenter. The film oozes atmosphere and the paper-thin story is brought to life by amazing performances by Jamie Lee Curtis, PJ Soles, Nancy Loomis, and Donald Pleasence. A film you FEEL more then watch, Halloween is not only a genre high point, but probably the best horror film of the decade. SEE IT!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best movie ever made out of all genres!!!!!!!, July 28, 1999

This review is from: Halloween : 10-31-78 - The Limited Edition [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is the best movie ever made! Halloween was the first horror movie I had ever seen. I was probably like 8 or 9 when I saw it. Anyway, I'm a horror movie fanatic now, thanks to Halloween. Also, it has, in my opinion, the best musical score I've ever heard!!! Halloween is the only horror movie that doesn't try to scare you with gore. It scares you with suspense and the knowledge that what you're facing is purely and simply "evil".

5.0 out of 5 stars A LANDMARK IN HORROR HISTORY, July 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Halloween : 10-31-78 - The Limited Edition [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Halloween was a superior movie in horror films. I loved the killer himself, Michael Myers. His superhuman traits made the movie even scarier. John Carpenter did a great job directing and composing the music. Out of all horror movie music I've heard, John Carpenter did the best. I liked the scary mood he made when Michael Myers appeared from somewhere. Overall, I think horror movies will be copying effects from this movie for years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Halloween, the GREATEST slasher flick EVER, May 12, 1999

This review is from: Halloween : 10-31-78 - The Limited Edition [VHS] (VHS Tape)
What more could you ask for? A total pycho that can not be killed by any means known decides to kill anybody who crosses his path. John Carpenter truly is the best horror writer ever, Wes has nothing on him.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best horror movie ever!, May 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Halloween : 10-31-78 - The Limited Edition [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Halloween is the movie that started the horror movie revolution. Since then numerous movies have tried to match its' splender but all have failed. What else could anyone ask for? There is an insane man on a quest for blood and he targets Laurie Strode on Halloween night 15 years to the day he killed his older sister. The music in this movie really sets an eerie mood and to put it plainly don't miss this classic.

This review is from: Halloween : 10-31-78 - The Limited Edition [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This movie is a six-star phenomenon. It's excellent in every area. It's the best horror movie ever made and doesn't rely at all on blood. See it.

5.0 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING!, April 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Halloween : 10-31-78 - The Limited Edition [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Now we're talking. The one that spawned thousands of followings, imaitaions and copies, none even coming close to matching it's brilliance. Directed with penetrating menace by the great John Carpenter, this comes across as one of the, if not THE, greatest horror films of all time. Carpenter realizes that nothing he can show can possibly compare with our own imagination, and he really uses it, and he does it as succesful as can be. The film feels authentic, and features a truly frightening and intiguing killer, and the murder scenes are surprisingly unpleasent, they all seem very quiet, wich is very uncommon in this type of film. It also features strong performances from Donald Pleasence and Jamie Lee Curtis, a superb score by Carpenter and is one of those films that actually get you paranoid. If you're a film-buff, a horror film nut or just a movie fan, see it, experience it, worship it. Unless you've got weak nerves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Our parents had Psycho, we gen-Xer's have Halloween!, April 13, 1999

Movies like this just don't come around that often. I am 29 now and this is the movie that made me want to get into the business. You can probably count on one hand how many movies can scare you like Halloween. This movie is credited as the beginning of the 'slasher' flicks. However, there is little to no blood visible in this film! What makes this movie superior to all others is that it had SUSPENCE! That and the fact that the villain, Michael Myers, could possibly be that creepy neighbor that you never see? The one who only seems to go out at night and never makes any noise? In my opinion, blood isn't really scary, but an unstoppable guy in a white mask is another story! By the way, I wonder how William Shatner feels knowing that a mask of his face has scared a generation? Suffice to say that if you have not yet seen this film, do so immediately (at night, with no lights if possible)and experience a scare that has rarely, if ever, been equaled.
