The pages of this book are black.
The drawings that you must complete or embellish are done in white, so we used mostly white or silver gel pens, and the pictures turned out nicely.
A few examples of the pages are:
-Build The Mummy A Pyramid To Rest In-
- Grow A Monster Garden-
- Design The Vampire's Cloak-
...and so on.
You can use white or silver crayons, but they will be harder to see than liquid ink (pens), so just keep that in mind.
Also, this particular book is smaller than the majority of the Doodle books. The pages are maybe 8x10, as compared to 12x14 (or larger) in the other Doodle books.
It's a neat little book with creative and cute drawings; it just doesn't provide as much room for full creativity, given its size, and the black pages. The pages, btw, are a nice weight. The ink didn't transfer or soak through to adjacent pages.
Fun for sure.

Don't like the black pages. Would have preferred white pages. Too hard to color. Wish I hadn't ordered the book.

While there are nice illustrations in the book, the pages are smaller than most doodle books and the illustrations take up a large portion of each page. This prevents the artist from applying as much creativity as they may like. When I draw in a doodle book, I don't always draw what they instruct but because of the way this book is illustrated, the user often doesn't have much of a choice. Additionally, the doodle book itself doesn't have as many pages as most doodle books. However, I find that I get bored with the Holiday doodle books more quickly and this may actually not be a drawback; I guess it depends on how you look at it. The illustrations and instructions of what to draw seem to be geared more towards children though I still find it to be an enjoyable book.

I love these DOODLE books - there are many different topics and all are great fun for kids, teens, and adults. Unique from other activity books - amazing idea!
